White House Faults GOP Candidates for Not Chastising Unruly Audience Members at Debates
ABC News ^ | September 26, 2011 | Jake Tapper and Mary Bruce

The White House today added to the president’s criticism the night before of the audiences at Republican presidential debates, chastising the GOP candidates for staying silent in the face of objectionable eruptions by some members of the audience.

At a fundraiser in California on Sunday night, President Obama said of the debates, “You’ve got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don’t have health care and booing a service member in Iraq because they’re gay. That’s not reflective of who we are.”

White House press secretary Jay Carney elaborated on the president’s remarks, saying, “There was a question asked by a soldier about ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and the fact that when he was booed by audience members, not a single one of the candidates said a thing about that."

Earlier this month, Carney refused to condemn Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa Jr., who called Tea Party members “sons of bitches” at a labor event the president attended.

“I understand that there is a ritual in Washington that, you know, somebody says something and you link the associations and then everybody who has an association with him or her is somehow — has to avow or disavow it,” Carney said, adding that the president wasn’t on stage at the time and “didn’t hear it. … Mr. Hoffa speaks for himself. … The president speaks for himself.”

The service member is HOMOSEXUAL, not GAY. Gay means happy. If he was happy, he wouldn’t be going out of his way to be an agitator.

Maybe the world has past me by but....I’d like to know why a republican did not chastise the rest of the audience for not joining in with the courageous 3 or 4 that stood up to the pervert that somehow made it into the military. If his question was about having sex with animals or multiple women would it also make it wrong to boo? What sexual perversions are allowed to be booed vs those that can not?

Actually they didn’t boo the fact that he was Gay, if one bothers to listen. 2 people seemed to boo his gay centric “its all about us” homosexual advancement question. I would boo too. Repealing don’t ask don’t tell is just the beginning for them its gonna be all gay all the time.. Forget about the national defense purpose its about sanctioning homosexuality and they don’t care what they have to destroy in the process. Tells me something about a group of people and what they really believe/feel about themselves when they are willing to destroy anything just to have the world tell them “they are ok”... Pathetic

Levin hosted a segment on this earlier this p.m. The booing, to the extent their was any, was due to the format of the question which asked if the candidate was going to stop the progress that homosexuals have made with Obama’s removal of the “don't ask don't tell” policy and replacing it with one that allows openly homosexual members to serve. Levin played the clip which demonstrates there was no reaction to the questioner declaring he was a homosexual serving in the military.

Great quote. Obammy is forgetting about the Union goon who introduced him at an event while calling for violence against Republicans. He’s a shyster who thinks Americans don’t know what he’s doing.

I’ve known quite a few people who have served during war time.
I don’t think even one of them would have thought to ask a presidential candidate this question.
We’re at war and all this guy can think to ask about is how his sexual preference will rate?
Says a lot, if you ask me.

White House press secretary Jay Carney elaborated on the president’s remarks, saying, “There was a question asked by a soldier about ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and the fact that when he was booed by audience members..."

LIE

Mark Levin played that audio several times today. NO ONE boos when the soldier he identifies himself as gay. The couple boos, of 6,000 attending, come after the question.

With how the question was asked, the boos could've been against undoing the current policy or for returning to DADT.

It's a bit amazing no one identified even one booing audience member.
