Politics Feds Finalizing Ban on Over-the-Counter Asthma Inhalers Over Environmental Concerns
Fox ^ | 9/26/11 | Judson Berger

Hundreds of thousands of asthma sufferers who use an over-the-counter inhaler will be compelled to seek a more costly prescription device by the end of the year, when the federal government plans to ban them over environmental concerns.

The Food and Drug Administration last week began a media push to get the word out about the looming phase-out. After Dec. 31, the epinephrine asthma inhaler known as Primatene Mist will no longer be available.

The product is currently the only FDA-approved over-the-counter inhaler and is being taken off the shelves because it uses something called chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as a propellant -- the substance is considered harmful to the ozone layer.

It would probably take trillions of Asthma sufferers a thousand years for this to harm the Ozone layer.

Please don’t challenge the Obamites with real and demonstrative science. It might confuse their tight little minds. When you have people like Holdren, Hansen, Bolden, Chu, and Van Jones advising or running things for the Obama marxist regime, then facts are irrelevant.

Remember, Karl Marx called “communism” “scientific socialism” as though the laws of science could be applied to ideology.

It seems that the word “crazy” and “delusional” best describe both the scientific policies and leaders of the Obama regime. All you have to do is to look at Lenin/Stalin’s science policies re agriculture to see what a total failure the communists have been, yet Obama has tried to institutionalize this type of ididcy as national policy in America, and he is succeeding.

Time for real scientists to stand up and speak out against these inmates who are running the asylum. And we should order one helluva lot of straight-jackets for them after Nov. 6, 2012, as well as padded jail cells.

Charlie Manson. You’ll be getting some new cellmates. Show them the tricks you can do with forks.

John Hinckley - you, too, will be getting some new cellmates. Their names are Jodie Foster. Have fun.

Hannibal Lechter - you will also be getting some new cellmates. Bon appetit!

“Condemning allot of children and adults to a horrible death”

We can absorb the loss.

Besides polls show that asthmatics give very little to the party.

The banned refrigerant R-12 is a chlorofloride gas that, when released to the atmosphere, weighs six times more than the air it displaces ... meaning that it flows downhill.

Getting released R-12 gas up into the ozone layer is virtually impossible.

“It would probably take trillions of Asthma sufferers a thousand years for this to harm the Ozone layer.”

If the earth was the size of a 14,000 square foot house, the entire human population would be one billionths of a square inch.

Environmentalists are not physicists. Or scientists of any sort.

Which explains why they are invariably wrong. About everything.

Bingo. Follow the money. Whoever sells the approved device is a heavy political donor.

I worked in refrigeration and one thing sailors and shipyard workers must know (to stay alive) is that a refrigerant released into a ship’s hull ... can FILL the hull ... meaning that “air” in hulls (when a refrigerant might be released) must be constantly sucked out and released over the ships side.

JHC Shut down the EPA, FDA, DOT and all the other alphabet agencies now. Good grief!

On a side note... my wife told me I have to find a roll on deoderant I like because they are taking spray deoderant off the shelf. Something about the aluminum oxide or whatever. I said, B.S. Buy a case or 2 of it. Hoard the stuff. Or I’ll just have to go stinky because I hate roll on deoderant.

I thought they already changed inhalers so they didn’t emit those cfc’s. This is a huge and potentially deadly problem. The next cheapest solution is a nebulizer, well the solution you put into them is on the $4 generic drug list. You still have to buy the machine, though sometimes the companies will donate them. The problem is you can’t take them with you so if you have an asthma attack while away from your machine and an electrical outlet you’re SOL. Don’t know what I’d do if I was unable to have my inhaler with me.

I say follow the money. Sounds like one of the global business initiatives to eliminate competition. Sure sounds like some of the sleazy tricks that the progressives and FDR used to wipe out the little guys for the benefit of his brain trust and preferred business buddies. I think that if you add up all of the CFDs ever used for every inhaler ever produced that you would find it to be an insignificant amount and that the affects on the ozone are greatly exaggerated. Remember how we got to purchase Puron at 10 times the cost instead of freon because of that fraud Hansen at GIS and his New Ice Age fantasy

Zero killer of children, Inhalers against the law illegal!!! Inhalators and breathalizers goooooooooood! If one or both of his daughters needed an inhaler you would not be hearing this.

It is worse than that.

The more expensive inhalers can only be obtained by prescription.
Therefor, Doctors will have to give out the RX & the cost of the office visit will cost the asthma patient even more money.

Bet you under NObamacare this inhaler isn’t even coverednot the cost of the doctor’s visit.

Environmentalists don't know that.

I've yet to meet a liberal who understood anything about the sciences.

Environmentalists don't know that.

The Nobel prize deciders don't know it either ...

Some scientific professor at Universiy of California Irvine got a Nobel pize for coming up with a false theory: chloroflourocarbons ("Freons") destroying ozone in Earth's upper atmosphere.

We’re probably talking about a trivial amount of CFCs here. The big CFC producers were refrigeration and spray cans and that problem was fixed long ago. Leave the asthma suffers the heck alone.

Why can’t the GOP highlight crap like this? Seriously? It’s nonsensical.

I remember that.

I always wondered if it had anything to do with DuPont's patent on Freon being about to expire...

They changed the propellant in prescription inhalers. These OTC inhalers (read: Primatene) have not been changed.
