After about three months of it in junior high, I went after three bullies one at a time.

All learned a useful early lesson I think, one that authorities could never teach.

Fighting a bully is often quite effective, especially when in school. I was in a high school metal shop when a would-be bully slapped me hard against the back of my head. I turned and rushed him, sending him tumbling in a mass of desks (which were unanchored). The teacher, in his fairness, after hearing my accurate account, sent the culprit to the vice principal (the enforcer). The apprentice bully challenged me to a fight after school, which I ignored. He never bothered me again.

Yep, mine was an eighth grader when I was in the sixth grade. He was the biggest bully in our junior high. EVERYONE was afraid of him - including me.

Finally I had enough of the pushing! After about six minutes of fighting in the middle of the hallway and three teachers to separate us, I never had another problem with him (or anyone else)! I did not win that fight, but I knocked the fight out of him!

These are life lessons that are deeply engrained and leave a lasting impression on all those involved!
