Palin attorney threatens to sue over new book (Don't threaten, DO IT!)

An attorney for Sarah Palin is threatening to sue over a new book that he says defamed the Palins and contains "a series of lies and rumors."

John Tiemessen, in a letter to the publisher of Crown Publishing Group Monday, cites an email that author Joe McGinniss allegedly sent a blogger in January seeking substantiation for several rumors that have surrounded Palin's family. That email was posted online last week by Andrew Breitbart.

Tiemessen says McGinniss' book, "The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin," contains "most of" the stories that merely "amounted to the wishful fantasies of disturbed individuals."

I hardly call having a one-night stand lurid.

This is what Jonty30 is claiming states that Palin had sex with Rice and he is admitting it:

“In a short time, we got to know a lot about one another…It was all done in a respectful way, nothing hurried. She was a gorgeous woman, super nice. I was blown away by her. Afterward, she was a big crush that I had.’’

Jonty30 took quite leap into smut pit.

You may not, but many conservatives do.

Gov Palin has let many things slide in the past but through her lawyers she is calling out McGinnis and RH on this one.

Because this time, McGinnis' (confirmed) email to Griffen is the figurative "smoking gun" -- not only does it prove that McGinnis knew he could not substantiate his slime but published anyway, but because he reveals details of his discussions with Random House's lawyers to a third party, apparently he has waived attorney-client privilege and therefore huge amounts of documentation is open for discovery and the lawyers themselves can be compelled to testify.

It is lurid gossip that is untrue and you are spreading it as truth.

Also Free Republic is a conservative site and does not promote casual sex.

Is it any wonder conservatives have trouble finding qualified candidates?

We tend to eat them when we find out they have an imperfect past.

I try to remember the story of Christ, the woman and the Pharisees.

I understand your position, but I don’t view it as promoting casual sex.

I’m very big on marriage and protecting as much as possible. And me being celibate, I’m not being hypocritical on the matter.

WE?! YOU are the one claiming that Rice confirmed having sex with Palin when he did no such thing.

I try to remember the story of Christ, the woman and the Pharisees.

That's nice but that story isn't about the adulteress. It's about the Pharisees and how THEY broke Jewish law trying to lay a trap for Jesus.

You may not be a hypocrite but you are a liar.

Post 20:On www.bossip.com, in an interview, Rice, the basketball player affirmed that it did happen.

He did not.

I love the fact that every time the frenzied haters do something, Palin ends up vindicated and richer!

The story was about the woman being given a second chance, for the fortieth time.

I’m not eating Palin. Those who would throw her under the bus for being imperfect are the ones that would be eating her.

Listen. We're not standing for this.

You have no proof and your link is a busted flush. More to the point: the Palins have already denied this story about Rice and all the other crazy allegations in McGinnis's book.

Stop pretending that your lies about Palin are OK because you don't believe that what you are (passive-aggressively) accusing her of is that bad. That is just sleazy equivocation on your part.

Lies are lies. For example: it's simply not OK to connect you with Barney Frank - not because 'it's not a big deal to have a gay liaison with a congressman' but because it's false.

Do you understand the difference?

It's not OK to support a lie about someone, just because you don't think the substance of your lie is that damning.

And could you tone down your apparently effortless Phariseeism a bit? I just ate.

The story was about the woman being given a second chance, for the fortieth time.

No. It wasn't.

To begin with, the law was that they had to also bring the man. They did not. Also they had to have two witnesses. They did not. Because they broke the law they could actually suffer the punishment, stoning, that they demanded for her. Read it again. The oldest Pharisees dropped their rocks first and fled because THEY knew they had broken Judaic law and could be stoned.

Those who would throw her under the bus for being imperfect are the ones that would be eating her.

You mean the way you lied in Post 20?

As far as I am concerned, it probably did happen, but it does not concern me.

If Rice publicly denies it, I will gladly eat my words.:)

The question is, since you make such a big deal out of it, will you publicly eat yours if it’s proven true?

She's not threatening them. There is no bluster here. Directing them not to destroy evidence is an important step before filing a suit.

It looks like she is seriously planning on filing one.

Lol! That phrase, slightly reworded, could be the perfect definition for the democRat party:

"Representing the wishful fantasies of disturbed individuals."

She is and probably always will be a public figure. The same high standards will exist whether she enters the race or not, although if she enters race the legal proceedings will become an undesirable sideshow.

BTW, it looks like McGinness showed some actual malice so the standards have been met.
