Exclusive: A laboratory shows how an e-voting machine used by a third of all voters can be easily manipulated
It could be one of the most disturbing e-voting machine hacks to date.
Voting machines used by as many as a quarter of American voters heading to the polls in 2012 can be hacked with just $10.50 in parts and an 8th grade science education, according to computer science and security experts at the Vulnerability Assessment Team at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois. The experts say the newly developed hack could change voting results while leaving absolutely no trace of the manipulation behind.
"We believe these man-in-the-middle attacks are potentially possible on a wide variety of electronic voting machines," said Roger Johnston, leader of the assessment team "We think we can do similar things on pretty much every electronic voting machine."

Notice -- "no trace left behind".
Republicans should demand that these machines NOT be used.
how can you hack something with a remote control that doesn’t send of recieve signals?
I can’t hack my toaster.
you’re right this is the rat strategy but you turned wrong at the fork- they are all ready setting up “the election was stolen” BS after obozo gets his ass kicked...
Are these the ones that were bought from Venezuela, does anyone know? I wonder if the way things shape up that Obama will be tossed out and someone else (Primary Challenger, etc.) replace him for the 2012 election, and then voter/election fraud used (ala THIS) in order to win the seat for a Dem, again. I have strongly believe there would be a push to use the machine to steal the election (Like “Speculation” with Reid in Nevada this last election).
Remember the “It’s who counts the votes that matters” quote. Still applicable.
More likely it is their plan to make baseless accusations that any Republican victories in Dem-controlled states are the result of imaginary vote tampering by Republicans, because the boogie-man owner of Diebold is a Republican.
Vote tampering is a Dem hallmark. Lying is a Dem hallmark. They always accuse their opponents of doing that which they themselves are doing, even though their accusations are false.
“wrong at the fork- they are all ready setting up the election was stolen BS after obozo gets his ass kicked...”
I hadn’t even thought of that, but believe you to be correct. Good catch. It’s a darned if you do, darned if you don’t either way. We need secure election machines and processes, and now.
Sigh...Law of Unintended Consequences. Back to paper ballots.
Precisely. Diebold is a favorite target of moonbats because I guess the company or some of its executives gave money to Republicans at some point? But regardless, they love to throw out conspiracy theories that Diebold machines are only hackable by Republicans and that they’re going to be used to “disenfranchise the poor” and steal elections.
Rats don’t need to hack voting machines to steal elections. They’ve been doing it since the days of paper ballots and mechanical machines.

Near as I can tell, Republicans had four years to close the open primaries hole and did nothing about it. I don't expect they have any more concern about this.
Sorry, no wireless I/O on voting machines. But I do have it on good authority that dead voters can cast votes without ever leaving the cemetery.
Gee. I can guarantee I can hack any computer-based device too if I have time to take it apart and install a wireless device in it. This video is dumb.
We need a few things for an honest vote:
a paper ballot
a voter ID card
a purple thumb
citizens’ box seat gallery and video to watch throughout the entire process from signing in to counting ballots to delivery of ballots to tabulation of numbers at every level.
I will gladly allow the process to take a week to ensure a more honest result.
Wonder if they will be more votes than voters?.
The GOP spent the four years making "Kick Me" signs to stick on their own backs.
Would be funny...if the consequences weren't so tragic.
You have it backwards. Ostupid and Co know they will lose and they are now setting up the excuses for the pending loss. By stating there is “no trace” of the hack they excuse themselves from having to provide any evidence.
I also find it hard to believe a security fix cannot be found which would absolutely stop a hack or would make it so difficult that it would take longer then the machines were actually on line to break in to them.

Friedman's blog covers voting rights and election integrity issues in the USA,[1][2] and a number of other subjects related to media reform and political corruption from a progressive standpoint.
His blog site is generally critical of Premier Election Solutions (formerly Diebold Election Systems),[3] ES&S, Sequoia Voting Systems and electronic voting in general.
Based on his advocacy at The BRAD BLOG and in other publications, he was invited to testify at the Election Assistance Commission's Voting Advocate Roundtable Discussion.[4] Friedman is a noted advocate of a return to paper balloting[5] and of the role of bloggers as journalists.[6] he has been described in the New York Times as “perhaps the most dogged critic of electronic voting machine technology in the blogosphere”.[7]

Not to worry, folks, in all my life I’ve never known a liberal to understand 2nd grade science much less 8th grade science.
ditto.
The counting process needs to be accurate, speed can take a back seat.
