Sarah Palin: ‘Is a Title and Campaign Too Shackle-y?’

Sheila Marikar

September 28, 2011

A Palin presidency: Too “shackle-y?”

That’s what Sarah Palin suggested on Fox News’ “On The Record with Greta VanSusteren” tonight, saying that she’s concerned jumping into the 2012 presidential race will muffle her message.

“Is a title worth it?” she asked, rhetorically. “Does a title shackle a person? Are they someone like me who’s maverick? I do go rogue and I call it like I see it and I don’t mind stirring it up in order to get people to think and debate aggressively.”

“Is a title and a campaign too shackle-y?,” she continued. “Does that prohibit me from being out there, out of a box, not allowing handlers to shape me and to force my message to be what donors or what contributors or what pundits want it to be? Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to affect positive change that we need in this country? That’s the biggest contemplation piece in my process.”

Palin expressed a concern about “being caricatured” if she runs, and asked again “whether a title is needed to make a difference or someone can be rogue, can be maverick, can be passionate about issues and can get people to think very wisely about issues.”...

I can't believe this article is accurate. She sounds like a freaking moron.

“This seems like she’s leaning against running.”

Just wait for the official deadline to pass. No point speculating and trying to microanalyze every single word she says. If, in the end, she decides not to run, a lot of people won’t be happy but it’s her decision.

Well, that’s disingenuous, then.

She is paid by FoxNews right now. FoxNews contributor and former governor of Alaska would be the accurate way to introduce her on a FoxNews show, wouldn’t it?

Lots of wisdom in your post.

If this is our field, I will have to back Herman Cain and hope and pray he wins the nomination and goes onto beat obama.

Huckabee makes at least half of what Palin makes ($1m+ Palin/$500k Huck) and has to schlep his own weekend show, in addition to making appearances on other FoxNews shows during the week. Palin hadn’t been on the air in over a week, and now makes news with her appearances in MSM outlets.

Hypothetically finishing behind Herman Cain, Rick Perry, and Mittens Romney in the GOP primaries isn’t going to make her pay go up, is it?

I want her to run but if she doesn’t my money stays in my account and life will go on.

>> I happen to think she likes one title very well right now.

She probably has reservations about continuing the grotesque abuse the Left has waged against her personally.

Why should she feel shackled, if she is running for president? She would be in charge of her campaign, unlike when she was the VP candidate and the McCain people held her back, and dictated where she should go and what she should say.

You don't know that. Her contract could have expired yesterday or the day before or anytime in between her last appearance and this one.

I have been watching for this *clue*.

Give me a break. Does she think we're all children?

Obviously you did NOT listen to the whole interview.... I did and her point was that she has yet to decide IF she wants to harness herself into a campaign and allllll that requires. She pointed out how she was boxed in by the 'campaign' and the 'media' in her 'titled' role as GOP TITLED nominee for veep. I also think (my opinion) given what 'help' old Rollins did for Bachamnn is NOT the path Sarah intends to follow.

Yes...but he’s Huckabee.

Well, I honestly think she doesn't know if she's going to run yet,

I really don't understand what she is doing, but surely she knows what her own plans are. The game is getting insulting.

I’ve been guzzling wine since I got home...

LOL. You should catch my act here at FR late on a Friday or Saturday night. Single malt scotch would have had me Zotted already if I was anywhere near making coherent posts.

watching the Republican Straw vote she realizes they don’t want either of the two front runners and she has to run to save the republic and knows it will be very hard on her and her family.

This is exactly my take on it. Cain's win in Florida IMO, is a "no Confidence" vote against the top tier candidates. Sarah knows that Cain is not ready to be President of the United States.

As I just mentioned, I’m deep into the vino tonight. My attorney advises me not to comment further on the matter.

Wait? So her contract expired? When did that happen. It was reported when it was signed that it runs through 2012?

Do you know of some sort of opt-out clause?
