DEM NC Gov Says: "Suspend Elections for Congress"
Townhall.com ^ | September 27, 2011 | John Ransom

Welcome to Democrat Fantasy Island, where the people who run our country have things exactly backwards. They may be short on brains, but they don’t seem to be short of ideas, especially bad ideas.

That’s the only explanation I have for the latest proposal from the brain trust that has brought you Recession Part Deux, Obamacare, Solyndra, Fast and Furious and Barney Frank.

The Democrat governor of North Carolina has suggested that the country dispense with Congressional elections for two years in order to help the “economic recovery.”

"You have to have more ability from Congress,” said Gov Bev Perdue, “I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that."

So not only should we suspend elections, she says, but we should also not hold any actions Congress might take- actions taken for our own good of course- against them.

Perdue’s campaign has been under investigation for illegal contributions and suspicious spending. No word from the governor’s office about whether she’d like to suspend the state’s campaign finance laws as a part of broader reform efforts.

And people wonder why there is a Tea Party movement?

Perdue’s office claims she was just using “hyperbole” to make a point.

But what Perdue doesn’t understand is that the rest of us already understood the joke, like two years ago. And we don’t think it’s funny.

Hyperbolic, however, is one way you might describe a government on overdrive under the Democrats.

When the real estate business suffered because the US government was originating half of the loans in the country, our Democrats, somehow, figured out how up that number to 95 percent of all mortgages- almost eliminating private mortgages altogether.

The result has been that housing prices have slumped to record lows with no real estate recovery in sight.

With healthcare expenses in runaway mode, in part because the government is the largest purchaser of healthcare in the country through Medicaid and Medicare, the Democrats passed as a solution a federal takeover of healthcare that includes rationed healthcare and increased costs.

When the banking industry grew too big and interconnected to safely operate in the country, these same genius Democrats decided to concentrate more money in fewer places and put the economy at greater risk.

And now when Congress and the president are plunging in the polls and people have lost faith in the government, the head of an entire state in our Union says that suspending elections would be a good way to combat loss of faith in government.

People may not like divided government, but things weren’t exactly going swimmingly when the Democrats had the majority. At least elections have stemmed the bleeding.

Part of our constitutional system includes having regular discussions about the direction of the country through congressional and other elections.

I understand that Democrats are very uncomfortable with the discussion these days. They should be. That’s what happens when you promote Fantasy Island policies that don’t work.

What is working is our constitutional system that allows voters to reign in policies and politicians who have no answers, no ideas and quite obviously, no clue

Marxists sometimes speak of what they are really thinking.

The media was all upset that clinton wasn’t in power when 9/11 happened. They said he would have had a great opportunity to shine.

Hillary stated that she much more prefers the English parliamentary system. But England does not have a Constitution.

Rahm: Never let a crisis go to waste. Can get things done that they would not be able to in normal times. paraphrased.

Now this, suspend elections because we have a crisis to address. (see rahm’s statement).

Watch for more of this talk from the dims and their media.
They see the handwriting on the wall and are either praying for or setting up some sort of national emergency where they can try to suspend elections.

Trouble is, this is NC and there are not very many conservative republicans that have any name recognition at all in state politics. There used to be a lot of conservative Dems, including me, before I woke up, but they’ve either died or moved away. McCrory is, I think, the only one with a shot right now. Our current Gov Dumpling would not have won the last time if Obama had been wearing a coat with no tails.

The last 150 years of “Working Together” instead of working for the folks who Elected them is how we Got to where this pol. has the nerve to publicly suggest CANCELING, ALL future elections.

Bipartisan is nothing more than a synonym for date rape.

Sorry, Governor, but this isn’t a parliamentary system where elections can be put off and rescheduled when they’re convenient.

As a Virginian, I am embarrassed for my neighbors. Sheesh. Tar and feathers, anyone? That is, if the NC legislature won’t take care of their problem first.

In the nostalgic look back to the days when voters were blissfully unaware of the real goals of Democratic politicians Governor Perdue wants to suspend elections. Looking back lovingly to the days before the Tea Party and an informed electorate Perdue wants to stop the clock. Faced with an increasing angry public she would prefer there be no consequences to her party’s poor decisions. She feels Democrats need two years to increase the number of takers dependent upon the good graces of the Democratic Party to over 50% to insure control over the unruly bitter clingers and their own status as the ruling class.

There is the communist background agenda,

but a lot of these conclusions come from the left’s assumption of superiority of those who attain power.

They obviously are superior, both morally and intellectually, or they wouldn’t be where they are. (Please ignore the existance of SJL & Marxine W)
(And funny how this never applies when conservatives are elected)

The local (High Point, NC) morning show bubble heads blew it off as a “joke” this morning and tried to claim anyone taking her comment seriously was “attacking” her. Disgusting...

suspending elections would be a good way to combat loss of faith in government.

I think throwing out the whole lot and starting from scratch would be much more beneficial.

Let’s do that after the 2012 election when all the rats are out - then we can honker down and get the job done. I think 8 years would do it!

“Governor Perdue drew the short straw and was chosen to be the first high ranking pol to get this notion in the air.”

Agreed. Trial balloon. They want to see what kind of pushback this generates. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a “crisis” occur early next fall.

What a controversial statement... stupid quotes like this may be the spark to a 2nd Amendment Revolution, to rid this nation of facists idiots who have somehow gotten elected to office.

Everyone must call their elected Elitist and tell them what we think of this Liberal attempt at a dictatorship! Anyone wonder if this Administration put this hack up to this outrageous lunacy?

No one can be confused as to whom the enemies within are these days, can they?

The voters in NC must demand this Socialist’s resignation immediately, in my opinion.

What the heck is wrong with you voters in North Carolina??? You should be banging down the doors to your elected Democrat & Republican office holders, demanding the immediate resignation of Governor Purdue. And......if she does not resign immediately, then impeach her as fast as your state law allows. This is not her idea. It comes straight from “Would be modern day Hitler”, Dicatator, POTUS, Barack (Muslim Brotherhood) Hussein Obama. For goodness sake, folks your freedom and liberty are at stake!!! Wake up, North Carolina. Throw that useless governor you have under the bus, like right now!!! Get with it, today!!!

If I understand her, she is basically asking to give representatives an extra 2 years to work on getting reelected.

I am embarrassed that she is the governor of my state.
