DEM NC Gov Says: "Suspend Elections for Congress"

Welcome to Democrat Fantasy Island, where the people who run our country have things exactly backwards. They may be short on brains, but they don’t seem to be short of ideas, especially bad ideas.

That’s the only explanation I have for the latest proposal from the brain trust that has brought you Recession Part Deux, Obamacare, Solyndra, Fast and Furious and Barney Frank.

The Democrat governor of North Carolina has suggested that the country dispense with Congressional elections for two years in order to help the “economic recovery.”

"You have to have more ability from Congress,” said Gov Bev Perdue, “I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that."

So not only should we suspend elections, she says, but we should also not hold any actions Congress might take- actions taken for our own good of course- against them.

Perdue’s campaign has been under investigation for illegal contributions and suspicious spending. No word from the governor’s office about whether she’d like to suspend the state’s campaign finance laws as a part of broader reform efforts.

And people wonder why there is a Tea Party movement?

Perdue’s office claims she was just using “hyperbole” to make a point.

But what Perdue doesn’t understand is that the rest of us already understood the joke, like two years ago. And we don’t think it’s funny.

Hyperbolic, however, is one way you might describe a government on overdrive under the Democrats.

When the real estate business suffered because the US government was originating half of the loans in the country, our Democrats, somehow, figured out how up that number to 95 percent of all mortgages- almost eliminating private mortgages altogether.

The result has been that housing prices have slumped to record lows with no real estate recovery in sight.

With healthcare expenses in runaway mode, in part because the government is the largest purchaser of healthcare in the country through Medicaid and Medicare, the Democrats passed as a solution a federal takeover of healthcare that includes rationed healthcare and increased costs.

When the banking industry grew too big and interconnected to safely operate in the country, these same genius Democrats decided to concentrate more money in fewer places and put the economy at greater risk.

And now when Congress and the president are plunging in the polls and people have lost faith in the government, the head of an entire state in our Union says that suspending elections would be a good way to combat loss of faith in government.

People may not like divided government, but things weren’t exactly going swimmingly when the Democrats had the majority. At least elections have stemmed the bleeding.

Part of our constitutional system includes having regular discussions about the direction of the country through congressional and other elections.

I understand that Democrats are very uncomfortable with the discussion these days. They should be. That’s what happens when you promote Fantasy Island policies that don’t work.

What is working is our constitutional system that allows voters to reign in policies and politicians who have no answers, no ideas and quite obviously, no clue

I highly recommend that you email this outrage to every one you know in North Carolina and ask them to start calling their friends to inform them that you have a governor who thinks we should be living in a dictatorship. IMO, voters in your state would be wise to start a campaign to demand this wannabe dictator’s resignation ASAP.

Excellent!!! We need to make an example out this lunatic Governor Perdue that would steal our freedom and liberty, by forcing her to resign, like right now!!! Is anyone awake in the state of North Carolina!!! Sad!!!

Tell Bev what you think about her plan to cancel elections to help Democrats stay in office: governor.office@nc.gov

How many people said that suspending elections would definitively be on the table after four years of Obama?

While Pat McCrory is a likable fellow for a Rhino, he was a very bland mayor that had almost no influence on the Charlotte City Council. I don’t think that his governorship would be any different. NC is looking better though since I’ve moved back to SC and found it to be a haven for leftists also.

I agree about McCrory not being very conservative, but with a republican (?conservative?) state house I think he could be kept in line, pretty much. And I just don’t know of anyone else that would have as much of a chance. We haven’t had time to develop many real leaders in the new crop in Raleigh, someone that we could talk about and hold up a positive record, and build up a resume for. A century of Democrats running the state has left us with slim pickin’s.

My daughter graduated from college in 2009 and Gov Bev gave the commencement speech. Her main point of encouragement wasn’t about making a difference in the world, or any of the other feel good stuff they always say. She encouraged them to go and find a job right away so they could start paying taxes, because Raleigh needs the money. I felt like slapping the liberal out of her.

Thank goodness I don’t have to worry about living up there anymore. We are thinking possibly Alaska in a couple of years or a big houseboat and just cruise the waterways.
