Sen. Chuck Grassley: Government Sold Guns to "Underworld"
opposingviews.com ^ | 27 September, 2011 | Mark Berman

A Senator is accusing the United States government of selling guns to the "underworld," and that he is being "stonewalled" in his investigation.

Newsmax reports that Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley said this operation was similar to the "Fast and Furious" scheme in which the government sent guns to Mexico, and then tracked them to determine which ones were used in crimes.

“It’s hard to distinguish between the two, but evidence has come out that the orders came down from Justice that our agents were supposed to take taxpayers money, buy guns that shouldn’t have been sold, get them to the underworld,” Grassley told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. “The sale was made to the underworld. It happens to be that in this particular case, the federal government made a little bit of money, but that’s not the main issue.

“The main issue is that you would think they would arrest the people that bought them illegally -- no, they were told to just follow the guns -- they followed the guns to a storehouse. They would not have 24-hour surveillance except for one of the agents decided to stay there six days,” Grassley said. “A truck came along to load up the guns. They called for help to arrest them in the process of transferring the guns, but they wouldn’t send anybody to arrest them, so the guns got over -- got some place, maybe over the border -- and they were never traced, which was the purpose of the operation in the first place.”

Grassley said he is trying to investigate, but the Justice Department is not cooperating.

“There’s something sinister going on -- they’re doing everything they can to avoid the issue -- they want to stonewall us and string us along,” Grassley said.

Van Susteren said she had a letter from the Justice Department to Grassley saying that allegations are false.

“It is a false statement from the Department of Justice -- they knew about this -- I made reference to this in my first letter as they indicated, and the order came directly to an ATF agent to make the sale,” Grassley said.

I am not even close to surprised. Sickened. Angry. Scared. Horrified. Terrified. But not surprised.

Sadly, I agree...the Justice dept. is owned.

The only out I can see is if the Mexican government actually takes up the cause...like threatening toshut down American business interests in their country..unlikely...but not out of the realm of possibility. then the GE’s and other compaines running there would demand action.

As faras I am concerned there is no Mexican Government.

They are not in control of their own country.

Certainly they are not going to upset the applecart of American jobs coming into their realm.

Our only chane is to elect a President with a strong hand that will do what is necessary to straightn out the mess our agencies are in.

When George Bush was elected his first order of business should have been to reorganise the State Department the CIA and the FBI, instead he let Gorelicks Ban on communications between the FBI,CIA, and local police agencies to stand , and that resulted in 911.

Bush made a lot of mistakes, trying to be Mr. Nice Guy, but he had Congress fighting him all the way with his administrative appointments. Whoever we replace Obama with, must be strong. We must clean out this nest of Democrat sycophants and take back our Government, even if it means violating Civil service regs. Regulations that protect the sycophanyts and destroy the efficiency of the Alphabet agencies they have infiltrated.

We need good Government, One that works, todays is merely butt kissers and those frightened of Obama’s wrath.

I see only one person with the strength to do this, and she isn’t Michelle Bachman.

True, the Mexican government has lost control of that country. The only real issue in Mexico now is which Cartel is in charge- that is what the murders are all about...

Yet many think the border problems are not a real issue and we should only consider the “important” issues when choosing a candidate for President.

See my post #23

The worst thing wrong in this country today is a Media
That is as bad or worse than the Media Hitler had helping him. We are being fed Democrat propaganda as fact, and too many Americans are sleeping through the problem.

Ask your friends about Gunwalker and Solyndra, and you will be surprised at how many never heard of either. If it weren’t for Free Republic many of us would be as ignorant as they.

Our Media isn’t supplying us with news, or fcts, they are feeding us what THEY want us to know.Journalism is nothing more today than propaganda.

Look what is happening to our country. Religion under fire, Atheists wanting to ban the cross, Queers wanting to teach homopsexuality in schools. Queers destroying the sacrament of marriage,Illegals wlking over the border like there is no border, drinking and killing people in car accidents when they have no business driving or even being in the country, Dope prevalent in out communities, lowered school standards while we keep pouring more and more money into schools, Our roads falling apart because money meant to fix roads is going to stadiums and supporting Casa De Maryland and other such agencies, Obama supporting higher tax’s while the State County and Real Estate tax’;s are also being raised, the cost of fuel, and food because we are making fuel out of food, the banning of coal powered electrical plants while feeding money to green projects that don’t work.

I could go on all day in this rant, but you get the picture.

What possible reason can we have in this country to be importing expensive oil and sending our money to people who hate us when we have all we can use right here? Why are we destroying our boat engines and car engines with ethanol and raisning the price of food, when we have fuel here in abundance if we just drill for it.?

How about never? They aren't pretending anything -- they are deliberately bending over backwards to keep these high crimes from seeing the light of day.

Just as they did when then enabled these Chicago gangsters to attain the Oval Office in the first place. It is all of a piece.

Bingo. You win the prize. More and more people are understanding this. The MSM mediacracy is losing control. Our job is to help the new media (such as freerepublic) grow and fill the void. Glenn Beck is working to help with Glenn Beck TV. The motto is: Change the Media, Change the world.

There isn’t enough time or manpower to investigate all the dirt. Or the b#lls to implicate a man of the anointed race.

So, who’s gonna say “let’s roll”? And will there be anything left to fight for?

George Soros has invested holdings in over 30 news orgs in the US. Aside from the liberal whacked mindset of the MSM that may have something to do with it.

I came across this...

“I get a call and they tell me to get guns,” Cesar Bojorguez-Gamez told ATF agents Hope MacAllister and Clayton Merrill during his arrest.”...

Charges of “high crimes” are tricky to pin on the most powerful. They have strong motivation to deflect the accusations, and power/influence to do so.

This is hardball with hand grenades.

These two investigating Republicans have no power over Obama and Holder because they have no allegence to our system of law and government and no ethics. As Algore would say, there is no controlling legal authority.

Go farther. Weapons were also “walked” to Guatemala and points south to marxist rebels. They made their way to Honduras as well. MARXIST rebels. We don’t know how many or where they ended up.

Oh, we have a pretty good idea where. And why.

I’m afraid you’re right. We, ourselves, are in a full scale civil war and don’t even realize it. And the real violence is NOT going to confine itself to Mexico.
We are staring dead in the face of a marxxist revolution run out of our own government. high treason.

We have a fifth column of domestic enemies directly assisting the foreign ones. There are plenty of both kinds.

"We have Nicaragua, soon we will have El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico. One day, tomorrow or five years or fifteen years from now, we're going to take 5 to 10 million Mexicans and they are going into Dallas, into El Paso, into Houston, into New Mexico, into San Diego, and each one will have embedded in his mind the idea of killing ten Americans."

--Thomas Borge, Nicaragua Interior Minister, as quoted in the Washington Times, March 27, 1985
