Jamie Dimon, a JP Morgan CEO and once financial supporter of President Obama, has allegedly defected to the Mitt Romney camp.
Dimon, a longtime Democrat who was once rumored to be on the short list for treasury secretary before Tim Geithner got the job, met privately with Romney on Tuesday morning before a fund-raiser at Brasserie 8¹/2 hosted by Highbridge Capitala JPMorgan-owned hedge fund.
Dimon, who was spotted in a discreet one-on-one discussion with Romney, cannot legally publicly endorse a candidate because of his position on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. (But he still donated to Democratic candidates in 2008.)
While Dimons spokesman declined to give The New York Post a comment, a JP Morgan insider told them that Dimon has not attended an Obama fund-raiser and has not contributed to his campaign during this election cycle. What is even more interesting is that Dimon has met privately with many of the Republican presidential candidates.
Dimon will continue to look bipartisan, then work behind the scenes to get a Republican elected, says New York Magazine.
Political insiders are speculating that Dimons defection signals a massive rift between Obama and his former Wall Street supporters.
Calling them fat Cats in 2009 probably did not help.
I dont think the president of the United States should paint everyone with the same brush, Dimon said in reference to the perceived hostility from the Obama administration.
One insider said, There is not a person on Wall Street, with the exception of the genetic Democrats, who would get anywhere near supporting Obama. The hostility to the administration is huge.
Romney has so far raised twice as much money as Obama from Wall Street, with at least 100 donors who backed the president in 2008 switching sides, reports Salon.
Its never fair to punish everybody regardless of their behavior, Salon quotes Dimon of having said last year about Obamas anti-Wall Street push. There are good banks and bad banks just like there are good politicians and bad politicians, and Im not going to sit here and accept that somehow its OK.
The Wall Street bankers have their guy picked out.
I wouldn’t read too much into this.
Wall Street tends to support the party or people that are in best position to help them.
That’s all this means.
This tells ya everything you need to know about Mitt Romney.

isn’t that racist?
A rat’s tail helps him maintain balance as he jumps from one sinking ship to another.
Wall Street people usually support a candidate who (1) they think has good chance of winning and (2) will not bite them once he/she gets elected. They failed to follow their own counsel in 2008. I don’t think it has anything to do with being RINO or not. I somehow doubt Palin, Cain or any candidate would decline any support from them.

Well put.
“Jamie Dimon, a JP Morgan CEO and once financial supporter of President Obama, has allegedly defected to the Mitt Romney camp. “
I don’t think I would call this a “defection”...enlightenment would probably be a better word.
Wish I could give this a thumbs up or a vote or something.
So what’s the difference in those two? Both are losers.
Our country is so screwed!
Romney is definitely the “acceptable” alternative to Obama in NYC, from financiers on down.
I wish everybody posted in bold, it makes it easier to read but then what would we do for emphasis?
Wait, I know! We can always underline. Yer right about the rat not having to make any ideological compromises too.
Yeah, Romney is more of the same establishment garbage that has brought our country to the brink. I’ll take a crippled do nothing Obama for 4 more years over 8 years of Romney. Either way the country won’t survive.
There is something to be said for a squishy GOP Congress at least opposing the statist initiatives of a Democrat president—they’d be all in behind all the big-government ideas of of Republican one.
It’s just a small indication that “the fix is in” and the GOP/RINOs are doing all they can to bolster their “boy’s” selection process.
Even Democrat supporters are already “greasing the political wheels” in advance of awaiting their favors from the “anointed” GOP member’s club.
The GOP establishment will do everything in their power to place Romney into the presidential office. After all...he is a lifetime member of “the good ole boys” club.
How could he defect when they are on the same side?
Mr. Dimon can expect a visit from the IRS shortly.
