Personally I think this is an attempt to drive conservative Americans out of the armed forces. You know, the ones who understand that their duty does not include targeting the American population.
When the US military finally succumbs to such pandering, politicizing and corruption, I wonder where honorable people will go to serve their neighbors, friends, and families?
I don’t say country, because at some point in the future, honorable people may be either unwilling, or unable, to serve their country.

The military is a big problem voting block for Big Brother and his Political Machine, the Democrat Party. This is one way to pack it with Democrat voters.
Also, in order to stage a coup d'etat in the United States, establish a Democrat as President for Life, void the Constitution, abolish the Republic, and set up a dictatorship under the control of the Democrat Party--i.e. give Big Brother absolute power over the United States--the military must be brought under the control of the Democrat Party, both its high command and the rank-and-file. This will help.
Once this is accomplished, the military can be counted on to dispatch resistance to the coup d'etat.
It will all be so easy.

Honestly, the Left won’t rest until our Armed Forces are in tatters. In 20 years (or less), you’ll see sexual and/or political commisars (a new career field). Those who join to patriotically serve will be persecuted for the first sign of religious or non-PC leanings and sent to “Tolerance” camp.
The last cultural conservative safety valve has been clamped shut. Nothing to do now but let the pressure build and watch the old republic(if you want to call it that) explode in a blood bath.

The military, being a microcosm of the cross section of American society, has been used as a political petrie dish for a long time.
When you open the door an inch to see who’s there, the fringe elements will annonce themselves by kicking the door all the way open.
What I particularly love about all of these people who never served a day in the military re-engineering the military, is that they are always surprised at the living accommodations. I still recall Cluinton’s comments after his first election to prez and he visited an aircraft carrier - “Wow, I didn’t know they slept so close together!”
(And he wondered why the military doesn’t want gays . . . . )
It lists scores of medical conditions that make one ineligible, including: “Current or history of psychosexual conditions, including but not limited to transsexualism, exhibitionism, transvestism, voyeurism, and other paraphilias.”

Guess I should have read the entire thread before responding. Should have figured a FReeper smarter than me would post a picture.
This is obviously ridiculous, but clearly not surprising. What I find interesting is that you can be excluded from participating in the military because of physical/health criteria - the obvious reasoning being that you won’t be able to perform adequately in combat and thus become a liability on the battlefield.
Why isn’t the same reasoning applicable to those who would at the very least be a distraction to their fellow soldiers and thus potentially a liability?
(Yes, I know the politically correct answer).

If I remember the show correctly, Klinger was trying to get out of the Army via a section 8 discharge for a mental disorder. If he tried that today, he’d probably get a promotion

Their first plan is to confiscate all arms held by civilians.
Their second is that rifles, shotguns, and pistols will provide little resistance to a high-tech military armed with such advantages as heat-seeking missiles, tanks, helicopters, etc.
When Clinton was first elected and there was so much talk about lifting the ban on gays I got into with a younger brother of mine. He had disappeared when he turned 18 for fear of being drafted and sent to Vietnam and stayed missing until the war ended and the draft was stopped. Here he was lecturing me on how the military should be open to everyone. He is not gay but he was the typical liberal hippie who spouted the left wing garbage without one moment of thought about what it actually meant or what the effect would be. I had served on an aircraft carrier and I knew the facts, I don’t know if he has ever forgotten what I told him that day.
