"No general, not even ours, will want to take on America’s internal army for there is a gun behind every blade of grass."

I think they have thought of that.

Their first plan is to confiscate all arms held by civilians.

Their second is that rifles, shotguns, and pistols will provide little resistance to a high-tech military armed with such advantages as heat-seeking missiles, tanks, helicopters, etc.

Another dictatorial leader also believed that somewhere in the late 1770's. Didn't work out so well. Up here in the Northland, a little ritual is about to commence. It's called deer hunting season.

Hundreds of thousands of armed citizens trudge through well-known countryside that to the newbie looks impenetrable. This happens all over the nation.

They are a force to be reckoned with.

Bring it, Ego-bama!

The cost of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan was high. But it purchased us the knowledge that the idea "rifles, shotguns, and pistols will provide little resistance to a high-tech military" is absolutely, completely wrong.

It can be even said that the modern high-tech military can't win a modern guerilla war short of nuking the country, preferrably from orbit. And that is achieved in countries that are striving to become 3rd world one day in far, far future.

The highest danger to a modern high-tech army is not another high-tech army. It's an IED that may be deployed under any square foot of billions of square feet of roads. It's a sniper that with a single shot can kill anyone who is not inside a tank. It's a carefully prepared ambush on a narrow road, with mines in places where you'd be likely to run after the first shots are fired. And, most importantly, the highest danger of all is the lack of moral and political support for hostilities.

“...rifles, shotguns, and pistols will provide little resistance to a high-tech military...”

Savage, If that were true, we’d have been out of Afghanistan by now.

And going back even further, the Soviets wouldn’t have run away with their tails between their legs back in ‘88(?) if that were true.

The Mooj were killing Soviet gruntski’s with bolt-action, WWII vintage .303 caliber Lee-Enfield “Smileys” at longer ranges than their counterparts’ AK47s and AK74s could reach. They were hitting and running, picking targets of opportunity and of THEIR choice, and they did a pretty good job of handing Ivan his ass on a platter. Hell, they owned the skies with their MiL-24 Hinds and Su-35 Frogfoot ground attack aircraft; they had armored vehicles and Spetznaz teams all over the place, and the Mooj were killing them in DROVES in spite of all that. Those tanks and helicopters all have weak spots - and those weak spots have to eat, pee, crap, sleep eventually.

The Mooj made a whole mess o’ “Heroes Of The Soviet People” and sent them home in boxes to mamaski and papaski - with old “obsolete” rifles, captured modern stuff, and of course, some upgraded toys provided courtesy of Mr. Reagan and Uncle Sugar.

The Rifleman, with the will, determination, and skill to use it, is THE single biggest threat to ANY would-be conqueror. Now multiply that a bit - that is why the left craps themselves at the thought of 80 million armed Americans - with at least a third of whom that are pissed-off, motivated, and have serious training, serious will, and serious attitude; these are folks who have been preparing - physically and mentally - for “Der Tag” for a long, long time.

So to your first point of confiscating our weapons, yes, they’re trying to find excuses to do so (witness Project Gunwalker currently going on - nothing more than a blatant criminal attempt to undermine the Second Amendment). hey’ve BEEN trying for years, and we just keep getting stronger.

Think of it - this assclown admin has been the single BEST gun salesman we’ve ever had. More people are carrying now, in more States (43, I think), further swelling the ranks of the American Gun Culture, and becoming used to the once-familiar knowledge that “Yeah, I can protect MYSELF, and this is my RIGHT to do so...” despite all the best efforts of the socialist asswipes to erase that mentality.

Once a man (or a woman too) understands that they have the power to control a fraction of their own destiny - that they are NOT powerless, not helpless and weak, not dependent on or at the mercy of anyone else’s “by your leave”, it becomes increasingly difficult to erase that knowledge - in spite of all the attempts by the left to do so.

But, no disrespect intended, I think history shows you’re wrong on the second point.
