Document drop exclusive: Issa asks CEO about White House/Ford fiasco
Michelle Malkin ^ | Michelle Malkin

GOP House Oversight and Government Reform chair Rep. Darryl Issa has questions for Ford CEO Alan Mulally about the White House Ford fiasco.

In a new letter Mulally received today, Rep. Issa requests more information and notes that he is “deeply concerned about undue political pressure exerted by the White House on public companies. Issa asks Mulally the same question I asked White House press flack Dan Pfeiffer yesterday (and which Pfeiffer refused to answer): Did any White House officials — or any other current or former administration officials — contact any Ford officials/employees to discuss the anti-bailout ad? He also asks whether any UAW employees, Obama for America staff, or DNC staff did likewise.

Here’s the full, seven-page letter:

Glad we have some representatives in Washington confronting the White House bully problem.

Some people are able to chew gum and rub their tummies at the same time. Issa is one of them. Let him roam the range of all illegal, quasi illegal transactions of the White House, along with the bullying and anything else that comes up on his radar screen. That committee is fully capable of going after Obama and his henchman on many levels of corruption. As to prosecution of the issues, that’s a lot harder, as Obama & Co. will obfuscate, lie, deceive, try to throw them off the scent, and otherwise make it very difficult indeed to actually nail them to the wall. Not much anyone can do about that other than hope to get some of them at least convicted of corruption, if possible.

You don’t think that Issa can walk and chew gum at the same time?

Go Issa go! Run these vipers down, skin ‘em, and hang ‘em out to dry!

"Rumor has it that Issa has (or at least has seen) a memo linking “Fast and Furious” with WH politos and their push for more gun control."

If that's true, it could be a smoking gun (depending on how the memo reads). That's at the very least a ticket to jail. At worst, it's part of a pattern of seditious activity.

Not from what I have seen so far. Do you recall the Rats taking their time with these types of investigations?

Again, more (anonymously sourced, but who could blame them with this group in power) rumours that Issa has enough to get a Special Prosecutor but wants as much info as he can get before hand so he can monitor the SP to make sure he’s not being a partisan hack.

This might also explain Dumb0’s lethargy and “depression” - he knows the clock is ticking (Michelle is practicing for life after Dumb0 by training how to shop at Target!)

Given the complexity of Fast and Furious, especially the number of government departments that should be investigated, Issa will likely hand the job off to a special prosecutor. I am not sure if the Senate must approve. If so, the Democrats will never approve a special investigation and it will be up to Issa to do as much as he can.

Actually, Senator Chuck Grassley has been assisting Issa and I believe that Grassley was the very first one to come out and publicly voice the concept that it was an orchestrated effort on the administration’s part to reimpose assault weapon bans and further gun control.

Ethics was not Barry’s favorite class.

In fact, I think that for lawyers, the ethics class is an elective and most take other electives such as quibbling, prevarication, stretching the truth, omission, etc. courses.

I thought that Moo shopping at Target was so appropriate. They carry those large specialty sizes that none of the other leftist stores carry. I can see the new Target ads now: “If Target is good enough for Moo, then it’s gotta be good enough for you!” or “Mrs Food Stamp President shops here to stretch those EBT dollars.”

It was Obama who was sticking his nose into someone else’s business in the first place.

Wow.... Issa is a busy man. I hope he’s got some good protection on his side! Now, if we could only get the media to stand up and take notice of all the scandals he’s uncovering. I’m surprised (maybe) that there are not more Republicans calling for a Special Prosecutor yet. Perhaps it’s good that they haven’t? Maybe they’re going to get boatloads of evidence before they really put the screws to Obama and Holder? This is frustrating because the longer it takes the easier it might be for the *big guys* to cover their tracks.

Thanks for that... I hope the rumor is true (that he has enough but wants more). That’s what I’m hoping the delay is for - I couldn’t figure out why with all this stuff coming to light regarding Gunwalker that the call hasn’t gone out throughout the GOP at this point.

To the posters who think Issa is tackling too many issues at once — what better way to keep the White House guessing. If Issa pounds them with all these issues and keeps them guessing where he’s going to next it may make it a LOT harder for the WH and others to cover things up (or may make them scared and they might slip up...).

Can you imagine Obama and his staffers trying to keep up with which scandal they will be asked about *today*? Sounds like a really good way to keep the WH on their toes and not allow them to know what’s coming up next...

Shouldn’t Issa be focused on Gunwalker and Solyndra? He seems to be not getting anywhere with that and now he wants to fool around with this less than important issue.

Issa's committee is charged with Government Oversight and the Ford/White House issue is definitely within his area of responsibility.

At the same time, there is an entire committee staff (of perhaps 50) that is pursuing the details of Fast & Furious and Solyndra.

It's a lawless government that has made his committee's job so extensive...

There are other pubbies on this committee. They need assign one of them to each scandal. They can start using pubbie aids and assistants when they run out of congressmen.

Already done. Cong. Sam Johnson (R-TX), e.g., is focussed on Solyndra. And there are dozens of committee staffers who are pursuing one scandal or another.

deeply concerned about undue political pressure exerted by the White House on public companies.

I agree. What business does 0bama have telling Ford how they should advertise?

This kind of BS closely resembles fascism...
