Fmr. Clinton Adviser: 'Very Possible' Obama Will Bow Out of Presidential Race - For Now
CNS News ^ | Sept., 29, 2011 | Grant Dahl

In an interview with conservative radio icon Sean Hannity, former President Clinton adviser and campaign manager Dick Morris stated that, after speaking with a Democratic strategist, he thinks it is “very possible” that President Obama might acquiesce to requests from the Democratic leadership in Congress and bow out of the 2012 race, leaving the door open for him to return sometime in the future.

“I asked a top Democratic strategist the other day and he thought that it was possible that, in January, Harry Reid comes to Obama and says, ‘Look you cost us control of the House last year, you’re going to cost us control of the Senate this year. For the good of the party you have to step aside’” said Morris.

“And, then, (Obama) pulls a Lyndon Johnson, he says ‘I’m fighting to solve the recession, and problem is because of partisanship and my re-election people reject everything I say because of partisanship, so I’m going to not run for president and focus my full time attention on solving this recession’ and then go out popular,” Morris added.

I believe it’s more likely that he’ll declare martial law and cancel the election by Imperial Edict than that he’d not run a second time. His ego could NEVER let him not run.

The big government elitists would never have floated a trial balloon for something this immoral and unconstitutional, would they?

“You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that. The one good thing about Raleigh is that for so many years we worked across party lines. It’s a little bit more contentious now but it’s not impossible to try to do what’s right in this state. You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

This could be a win-win.

The Democrats say the Tea Party [which rules the GOP] created too racist an environment for O to run.

Obama avoids losing and slurs the Right at the same time.

In the meantime, the Dims get to choose someone more likely to win.

Zero goes down in history as a modern martyr.

The only way he would decide not to run is if he could be persuaded that it was for the good of the Democrat Party. He certainly doesn’t give a damn about the Nation.

solves 2 problems:

1. no liberal will want to be seen deposing a black man—that’s racism.

2. the party will not destroy themselves in a primary fight.

They have been very busy setting the stage for Hillary. Obama won’t even know what hit him.

If Morris says it could happen, it probably won’t.

I don’t see Obama as backing down.

The only way he'll step aside will be if he has what is (in his mind) a better offer. If the Dems could somehow make a backroom deal for him to become Secretary General of the U.N., Obama can save face and spin it into an opportunity to do "great things for all mankind." They could then nominate Hillary, along with a black running mate to hopefully keep black voters in their camp. Admittedly, this scenario is far fetched, but the Dems are growing more desperate by the day.

No. Democrats have to go down with the ship in 2012 with him at the helm. To do otherwise would be to risk putting the black demographic into play, and there are too many congressional districts, governorships, cites, etc that would swing to the republicans if that happened. It could turn them into a permanent minority party.

“He can’t step down the investigations will destroy him forever....he needs to try and win to keep the investigations under control.”

Nah, I doubt Republicans will want to bother going after him if he is already out of office. It seems there are only 2 or 3 Republicans in Congress who care to investigate him even while he is still in office, actively trying to sink the country. Once he is gone, nobody will want to keep at it and get tarred in the media for wasting taxpayer dollars beating a dead horse.

Barak Obama is a malignant narcissist. He would rather destroy the US than back down. Go ahead, google it.

Wont happen. BHO is a narcissist, with delusions of godhood. He will just become more strident and angry until he explodes

I could go for that.

That's pretty funny. One problem. Obama isn't interested in "solving" anything. He's made that abundantly clear. And dictators have no taste for going out. Popular or otherwise.

We're supposed to be too dumb to realize that right now Hillary is in the catbird seat because W wouldn't investigate the Clintons, and not investigaing Obama is just setting us up for another round later?

ITA... if he could some how be GUARANTEED the UNSC position, he would gladly “move up” so that he would have the opportunity to spread communism world-wide. Otherwise, he will stay on as captain of a sinking ship, all the while blaming the evil tea party as the racist iceberg that sunk him.
