Todd Ticked Romney Using Footage Of Mexican Prez Praising Perry
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

A Mexican President praises Governor Rick Perry for offering in-state tuition to illegal immigrants in Texas. Mitt Romney uses footage of it in a campaign ad. Something wrong with that? Apparently yes--in the eyes of Chuck Todd.

The host of MSNBC's "Daily Rundown" critically quizzed Romney campaign strategist Russ Schriefer over the ad today.

Wrong of Romney to use footage of Mexican president praising Perry for granting tuition break to illegals? Chuck Todd thinks so. Ping to Today show list.

I wish these republican candidates would focus on obama’s failed policies. I so agreed with Newt when he pointed that out during one of the debates.

At this point, I’m starting to lean towards Newt for the nomination. He gets that the next elections should be about obama.

Perry sucking up to Mexico, of course they do not show the federal Marshall holding a gun of perry, after all the people in Washington dc made him do it.

Romney knows about illegals, having imported
them to his sanctuaries as his servants.

Obviously Tood doesn’t care that Perry is getting slammed.

So I’m assuming this is a pre-emptive faux outrage directed at GOP candidates not to use foreign leaders (like Chavez) praising Obama in ads.

You can bet that the left has a dossier on every Republican candidate or potential GOP candidate. My guess is that Perry’s is the thickest and after witnessing his (lack of) debating skills and ability to think on his feet, he may be the one they want to run against.

If there weren’t enough reasons for Romney to be unelectable, this is the final nail in his coffin. This ad will make him lose the general to Obama if he makes it that far.

I believe this was a 2001 Perry visit to Mexico (our largest trading partner) and there were many things said. Romney is desperate.

Here is some of Perry's speech: "President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace, as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexico’s citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity. It means we have addressed pollution concerns, made substantial progress in stopping the spread of disease, and rid our crossings of illicit drug smuggling activity. Clearly we have a long way to go in addressing those issues."

I am liking what Newt is saying more and more. Never thought I’d say that.

Lucy, you got some 'slpaining to do.

Why is an ad about perry being praised by Vincente Fox, el Presidente Mexico, for Perry's welcoming ILLEGAL WETBACK MEXICANS into Texas schools, going to be the final nail in romney's coffin?

Perry is soft on ILLEGAL ALIENS, always has been, maybe because he wanted their votes, maybe because being a border state with 5 million ILLEGAL ALIENS he feels overwhelmed and unable to fix the problem, what ever the reason... Perry is, and always has been, soft on ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Anything a candidate has said or done that is on the public record will be brought out by the media and the democrats in the general election.

Only Obama's history is protected by the media.

I have no love for Mitt Romney, nor do I care for Mr. Perry. Seeing them both duke it out with each other will perhaps help Herman Cain, I hope so.

That being said however, I see nothing wrong with Mr. Romney simply showing the truth. Either Perry thinks he did good with the dream act or he doesn't. Either he can run from it or deny it but how is it bad of his political opponent to say it, you don't think the other side will say it later?

Having (weak on pro life) Romney or (weak on illegal immigration) Perry for president would not be the worst thing that could happen to the country. I will vote for either of them in the general if I have to. However, I sure I hope I get to vote for the Herminator.

IIRC back about 2 or 3 months before Perry finally announced the word I was reading was that Obama was looking forward to beating Perry in 2012 should he run. The Obama campaign (sorry I don't recall the specific link at the moment but...) was saying that they thought Perry would be one of the easiest GOP opponents to beat in the general election.

I attributed the rhetoric to campaign electioneering hyperbole but now I look back thinking that maybe they knew something I didn't know at the time considering how Perry keeps letting his Texas oversized mouth overload his arse and his resulting big drop in the polls as a result of his painfully obvious lack of leadership and campaigning skills.
