From a Texas rat to the American eel, hundreds of plants, animals advance toward protections

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Obama administration is taking steps to extend new federal protections to a list of imperiled animals and plants that reads like a manifest for Noah's Ark

key Republicans vowed Thursday to press forward with their plans to put the brakes on a law they blame for jeopardizing economic growth.

Still, said Patrick Parenteau, an environmental law professor at the Vermont Law School, "Here at a single glance, you see the sweep of the Endangered Species Act. They are moving through this large backlog at a fairly crisp clip now.

The flurry of action could help revive President Barack Obama's standing among wildlife advocates upset over the administration's support for taking grey wolves off the endangered list

-snip-

It also could set the stage for a new round of disputes pitting conservation against development.

In response to the administration's decisions under the settlements, Republicans including U.S. Rep. Doc Hastings, chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, repeated their call to overhaul the 37-year-old endangered act. The Washington state lawmaker is planning hearings this fall into what he characterizes as the law's failure.

"The ESA is unfortunately now used as a tool in costly lawsuits where politics trump science and jobs and economic prosperity are put in jeopardy," Hastings said Thursday.

Earlier this year, citing restrictions against development and other activities, GOP lawmakers unsuccessfully sought to strip the federal budget of money to list new species as threatened or endangered. The administration is seeking $25 million for the listing program in 2012, an 11 per cent increase.

Noah Greenwald with the Center for Biological Diversity said the Fish and Wildlife Service was making "substantial progress."

"This is what we were looking for — starting to move species out of the pipeline into listing,

Interesting that 99.9% of those who are push for legal “protection” for animals believe in evolution. I thought part of evolutionary theory was what is often termed “survival of the fittest”. If these animals can’t adapt to a changing environment, from an evolutionary perspective, shouldn’t we just be letting them die out?

It’s hard to believe that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service can pull this off while conducting commando raids on Gibson Guitars at the same time. Amazing.

I was going to ask what specific type of rat, and how does one hunt it? A .22, flashlight, and barn are all that is required for normal Texas rats. Do I need anything special for the protected one?

The Endangered Species Act has been manipulated much as has the definition of “poverty” in this nation - the “threshold” keeps growing larger and larger.

I find it difficult to believe that the “American Eel” is endangered - I know people who fish on the lower end of the Arkansas River who see them very regularly on trotlines.

An interesting observation on those who keep pushing for more an more protection for supposedly “endangered” species:

The vast majority of those who are nuts about “protecting” these bugs, worms, rats, etc - also are radical evolutionists... Yet doesn’t the theory of evolution include the mantra “survival of the fittest”?

Some so-called “endangered” species are not threatened because of mankind - but because the species does not adapt. How many species became extinct before mankind had any possible impact on them? According to the same evolutionists - thousands or even millions.

But when people worship the earth over God -

But when people worship the earth over God -

Romans 1
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness...They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—

Notice this is not WHY God is showing His wrath, but HOW He is showing his wrath.

Actually, its a Texas DemocRat and you don’t hunt them, you bait and trap them, using a large cage with a spring loaded door and a pile of campaign contributions.

Not to worry about a bait trail. DemocRats have been known to scent campaign contributions from as far away as Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

I have long believed that the Endangered Species Act should be repealed. If a species is too stupid to adapt to changing conditions, then so be it.

If you own land, and ever what to do anything with it, kill everything on it before they declare one of them “endangered”.
