Alex reported on a fundraiser Rick Perry planned with a coal barron in Wheeling, West Virgina Thursday night, and apparently it was a successful event, raking in over $1 million for his campaign.
(Excerpt) Read more at politico.com ...
You will find out the as is the norm with such events (Romney had one back in the spring) that the 1 million is in the form of pledges, not dollars.
Good stuff! Now if Perry can just have 999 others like this he’ll rake in $1-billion just like PreZero.
Of course the anti-Perry nitwits will call this crony capitalists on the loose and I will call them, out of touch with reality.
Fired up tonight!
Seems like an awful lot of money for somebody to pi$$ away on a third or forth place candidate.>p>
Maybe he plans on transferring some it to SP or HC...
Like I said gov, it aint money, it’s “pledges”. Pledges can easily be rescinded.
These people didn’t get rich writing checks to losers!
When I saw this article, I immediately thought of Bachmann since I saw an article just a few days ago about her money troubles
http://www.bringmethenews.com/2011/09/29/sources-bachmann-may-have-money-trouble-ahead/
I even remember hearing something about someone about to pull the plug on her website because she wasn’t paying the bills, or something like that, or maybe that was Cain.
the way I read it... they paid $25,000 a plate to eat, that doesn’t sound like a pledge, you got to pay for your food.
Actually I think it was a pool bet on the number of debates over/under it takes for Rick to string together three coherent thoughts.
lol!
OK, I clicked through to the other article.
Something must be wrong though.
25,000.00 * 300 is 7.5 million.
It’s illegal to donate more than 2,500.00 so probably a typo there.
Even then it only adds up to 750,000.00
Doesn’t add up.
Lots of things about Perry don’t add up. What’s one more???
Glad he hasn't lost the common touch.
True!
On million! Will that cover a brain tansplant?
Democracy in action. It’s a beautiful thing. lol.
Laugh if you want but any candidate out there would gladly take it even Ms Palin and Mr.Cain.
If you don’t get the big donors your campaign ends sooner rather than later.
“Glad he hasn’t lost the common touch. “
? We hate successful businessmen on FR now?
Meg Whitman who had illegal aliens running around the inside of her private residence, who then turned on her like a rabid pit bulls, couldn’t buy the governors office after spending 160 million.
The well connected insiders seem to be having difficulty buying political power, like they’ve done in past decades.
He always runs better when he's behind in the polls.
Don't count your chickens...
BTW, do you think the other candidates will be questioned about immigtaion in the next debate?
successful businessmen, the "rich", republican candidates that out raise democrat candidates=crony capitalists, and anybody but Romney even if "I" have to vote for Obama type of Alice in Wonderland.
strange times we're in, huh? It's like some say "Obama's not THAT bad.
I say the above sentiments hurt the conservative movement even worse than John McCain. At least McCain has an excuse. He's a RINO.
