Obama speechwriter departing White House
LATimes ^ | September 30, 2011 | Peter Nicholas

One of the young wordsmiths behind President Obama’s oratory is leaving the administration, a crack in a close-knit speechwriting team that helped propel Obama to the White House and has played a major role in shaping his words ever since.

Adam Frankel is leaving to become executive director of Digital Promise, a new nonprofit group that will explore ways technology can be used to strengthen education.

“I worked with the president on a lot of his education speeches,’’ Frankel said in an interview Friday. “So I was thinking about what I want to do and I realized that I wanted to see if I could have some kind of impact in education.’’

Frankel, 30, was part of the original core of campaign wunderkinds led by Jon Favreau and Ben Rhodes who toiled on speeches as Obama slogged his way past Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primaries. Today is his last day.

At the White House, Frankel’s forte was speeches that involved issues of morality and history. When Obama would be called on to give a eulogy, the assignment often fell to Frankel.

I wonder how often we hit the mute button on his speeches in our home?

Fair-weather speech writer... thinks he can quit while he’s ahead... think again.

Libs love working for “non-profits” as long as they get their six-figure salaries.

Oh, you will. A strongly negative one, no doubt.

I'd like to see the papers he grades: "Timmy, this essay has no analysis, no facts, not even any opinions. All you did was spout the same four sentences over and over for seven pages. A+!"

If You Like Solyndra, You’ll Love the President’s ‘Digital Promise’

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-obama-speechwriter-frankel-20110930,0,4445097.story?track=rss
He comes from a family with deep roots in Washington politics and government. His father worked for the United Nations in Washington and still does consulting work for U.N. agencies. His great uncle is former FCC Chairman Newton Minow, who in a speech gave one of the most searing indictments of television, calling it “a vast wasteland.”
Paternal grandfather Stanley Frankel wrote speeches for former Democratic presidential candidates Adlai Stevenson, Robert F. Kennedy and George McGovern. None went on to become president. So after the younger Frankel finished up a stint in Sen. John F. Kerry’s failed presidential campaign in 2004, he got some teasing from his family.
This must be the dope that told Obozo to profess he wasn’t much for ethics.
Or was that just Obama telling the truth for once?
This likely means he’ll be on the public payroll his entire life.
That is SO true. I once worked for a non-profit that was absolutely infested by libs. They would all pat themselves on the back on what a good job they were doing and meanwhile they were wasting so much money, running things inefficiently and rewarding buddies with jobs. Of course 99% of their income came from state and federal sources so they didn't feel the need to actually be fiscally conservative. Basically it was like the federal government on a small scale...don't do anything that will save money or efficiency or that means the gravy train is over.
He is leaving to go to a new non profit, the way this group enriches themselves with disbursements of government funds. My first though is who is funding the non profit and is there a government grant.
Second, He wants to work in education, does it involve pushing the progressive agenda on to young children.
Is this satire? His speeches are legendary by now for their reliance on platitudes and their repetitive nature.
“Adam Frankel is leaving to become executive director of Digital Promise”
//
http://www.digitalpromise.org/about
Founded after more than a decade of effort, including a 2004 report to Congress, Digital Promise has been endorsed by virtually every major national association of educators and educational institutions, libraries, and museums. The project that gave rise to Digital Promise was launched by the Carnegie, Century, Knight, MacArthur, and Open Society foundations, ...
“(Frankel’s) great uncle is former FCC Chairman Newton Minow,”
//
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/story/2011-09-16/digital-promise-white-house-education/50419910/1
The idea for the center — its official name is the National Center for Research in Advanced Information and Digital Technologies — first emerged a decade ago. A handful of foundation leaders urged former Federal Communications Commission chairman Newton Minow and former NBC News president Lawrence Grossman to create an organization that would help schools figure out how to use the Internet and other technologies to help students learn.
Then there’s Obama’s “Digital Promise.” Where the government plans to “invest” in technology for schools – largely to connect classrooms to the Internet.
(Wait…didn’t then-Vice President Al Gore – the inventor hereof – already promise we were to have done this by 2000? Indeed he did. We’re still paying phone taxes for that one.)
But is this “Digital Promise” inanity necessary? No - we have 2009 “stimulus” evidence aplenty that the government is terrible at this, too.
Where the Leviathan spent $7 billion repeatedly creating/augmenting competitors to existing private sector Internet providers. Who had invested their own money – and then had to compete against some more of their own money.
How’s that for creating uncertainty?
But the Federalies were even more – and more fundamentally – stupid.
98% of Americans have access to broadband Internet – solely via and thanks to the private sector.
(Which leads one to ponder – why is the government getting involved at all? The free market seems to be working splendiferously well.)
The remaining 2% – for the most part – live remotely. In the wilds of rural America.
There are two ways to connect to the Internet – wired-ly, and wirelessly. Wired – with the digging and laying of cable and pipe – is obviously far more expensive than is wireless. Especially so when trying to connect a single, rural abode.
So what format did the government time and again choose when engaged in their Internet “stimulus” folly?
Wired, of course.
Duh.
Those who don’t know idiocy are doomed to repeat it.
Translation: get grants to find new ways to leverage new technologies to further indoctrinate children in liberal orthodoxy.
