I always wondered what the hell are we doing there protecting Muslim and Albanian interests.

First off, we shouldn’t have ANYTHING AT ALL to do with this region in ANY WAY. This is a classic example of creating a problem. A problem only exists because we meddled in it. If we didn’t one side would have won, taken control and 10 years later (today) there would be stability and we would have nothing at all to do with it.

Now, if for some insane reason that doesn’t really exist you argue we HAVE to be there, we should be there on behalf of the Serbs, you know, people whose values are MUCH closer to ours.

Insanity.

That, right there, describes the essence of what U.S. Foreign Policy with regards to the Balkans should have been from the very beginning into the present.

Such grievous, 'long-term consequences' errors have been made. It is truly unfortunate.
