Teacher put on leave after suspending student for criticizing homosexuality

FORT WORTH, Texas, September 29, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The teacher responsible for suspending a student after he expressed opposition to homosexuality has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Last week, Western Hills High School teacher Kristopher Franks retaliated against high school freshman and honors student Dakota Ary after he was overheard telling one other student that he believes homosexuality is wrong because of his Christian faith. The conversation, held during a class discussion on religious beliefs in Germany, arose when one student asked what Germans thought about homosexuality in relation to religion.

Ary says the instructor “started yelling” upon hearing the boy’s statement, and charged him with “possible bullying” before sending him to the principal’s office for discipline, where he received a two-day in-class suspension. The sentence was reduced to one day after Ary’s mother confronted the principal.

In a press release Wednesday, Liberty Counsel attorneys representing Dakota note that the same instructor had displayed a picture of two men kissing and encouraged his students to accept homosexuality. Many of the students were offended by Franks’ actions and his continually bringing up the topic of homosexuality in a German language class, the lawyers allege.

After attorneys sent a demand letter to the school and then met with school officials, the school district reversed the in-school suspension and placed Franks on administrative leave with pay.

Liberty Counsel founder and chairman Mat Staver said that his group was pleased with the school’s response thus far, although the teacher should “apologize publicly” to Ary.

“It is intolerable for the teacher to ridicule the religious beliefs of students in front of class,” said Staver. “This teacher should not force his views about homosexuality upon students.”

While I'm glad the school did this much, they should've fired this teacher.

They should take a page out of the liberal playbook and require him to go through ‘sensitivity’ and ‘tolerance’ training to learn to accept the views of others - e.g. Christians and conservatives.

Whys is the adult teacher not being charged with assault against a minor. Is that not the essence of bullying?

I agree hew should be fired: not only for publically humiliating and suspending the Christian student, but for repeatedly bringing homosexually-oriented material into the German class via illustraations and verbal advocacy, despite the fact that this created a “hostile environment” for Christian students (and anybody who is sexually-normal). This is, in itself, sexual harrassment.

Responsible parents have to do what Dakota Ary’s mother did: confront public school officials and demand punitive action against a teacher when they blatantly attempt to force student’s acceptance of homosexuality as ‘normal’. In addition, the more publicity this kind of unacceptable brainwashing of students receives, the more vigilant and pro-active other parents will become. This garbage has got to be stopped -now - before simply verbally opposing homosexual behavior on religious grounds becomes a criminal offense. That kind of authoritarianism starts in the schools.

government jobs are the only place in the world where when you screw up you get awarded with a paid vacation.

They never fire union members. They won’t even fire a pedophile union member. There are teachers that for years show up for “work” and just sit in a closed off room on school grounds doing nothing all day because they are too dangerous to be in a classroom with children. But fire them? Oh, no. Can’t do that. Union contracts protect these people. Not only are they not fired, but they continue to draw a salary.

*Paid* leave? Another worthless liberal fake apology.

Interesting that the principal who gave the boy the 2 day suspension and then, only under pressure reduced it to 1 day, gets no criticism here. Seems to me he is at least as complicit as the teacher in this fascist intimidation.

Also seems to me that the principal ought to be disciplined also.

Administrative leave with pay is nothing more than a paid vacation.

If that is the only punishment of a German Language teacher who is pushing the gay agenda in this school district I expect to see many more teachers working hard to get some free vacation days!

You beat me to it. The teacher’s ‘punishment’ is extra vacation time. He’s crying in his beer, I’m sure. Suspending a teacher w’out pay is probably prohibited by the teachers’ unions—even if the teacher committed a felony. First get rid of the unions, then start weeding out the lousy teachers.

Agree. It was a reprehensible bullying attack that Chuckie Gibson and Kattie Couric got away with against Sarah Palin in 2008. We need to build a wall between us and Mexico even if only to have a place to get rid of the MSM traitors.

Already back at work.....

“A Western Hills High School teacher who was accused of sending a student to the office for saying homosexuality is wrong was placed on administrative leave while the matter was investigated but is to return to school today.”

“...the matter had been resolved and that Franks would go back to work...”

Score one for the good guys.

Except in truth, the teacher should be fired for child abuse.
