Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry has said that he is open to sending American troops to Mexico to help battle drug cartels. Mr Perry, the Texas governor, likened the situation to Colombia, where the government accepted American military support in battling drug trafficking.
Mexico's government, however, has been opposed to foreign forces in its territory.
'It may require our military in Mexico working in concert with them to kill these drug cartels and to keep them off of our border and to destroy their networks.
'I dont know all the scenarios that are out there but I think it is very important that we work with them, to keep that country from failing.'

Thanks for clarifying his remarks. He’s insane!
If you want to use our military seaward against the cartels, fine......hit them with airstrikes and put boots on the border.
This will never happen regardless. The Mexican Government would not stand for it. They are calling the shots in THIS country and would never allow the use of our military south of the border or anywhere near the U.S. - Mexico border. They have far more say in dictating U.S. policy then Americans do.
Where is President Jack Ryan when we need him?
Now hold on.......the MO Perry is using to sate his insatiable lust for presidential power is becoming clearer by the day.
This we know----Perry and Mexico officials have been buddy-buddy for years. All of the top Mexicans are on record thanking Perry for all he's done for them.
Ergo, mexicanos would be more than willing to help Perry get his hands on federal power----b/c that means Mexico would have free access to the US Treasury....US tax dollars would flow over the border like agua caliente.
It would be easy as pie for Mexico and Perry to collude to stage a detente----to temporarily detain drug cartels as a favor to Perry----simply b/c the Mexican govt controls the cartels.
Some time ago (at least a year ago), I postulated that one reason for the lack of border control was to promote the illegal invasion and drug related violence in order to eventually justify “military intervention” in order to “Stabilize” Mexico in the name of “USA Security”.
I was somewhat amazed to subsequently see a long article in the LA Slimes showcasing SOS Hilary opining the same thing .......... Now we have a second National Figure adding to the legitimization of this upcoming travesty. Perhaps as part of the NA Unification Plan?????
HOUSE TO HOUSE.
Perry’s opinion in this matter just cost him any chance that I’d vote for him in the primary. We don’t need anymore foreign adventures.
I did read it. What part of it are you failing to comprehend? Perry wants to send the military, he just didn’t specify how much, how long, etc.
Perry is just re-hashing old idea's, idea's that are often repeated on this very site.
You are so blinded by your desire to see perry win you have zero credibility and are, apparently, illiterate.
This question popped into my mind: Does Perry have a political death wish? No doubt Romney is very happy with this latest episode. (Disclosure: I would really hate to see Romney as the eventual nominee. I hope Cain will beat Romney.)
In fact, there are some aspects that are potentially worse. Afghanistan does not have 50 million people (legal and illegal) living here. For one thing, this makes any expansion of the US military in Mexico politically difficult. Can you imagine unmanned aircraft hitting human targets in Mexico? I don't think Perry would go that far except in extreme circumstances, but imagine a voter trying to decide between Perry and Romney, and then hearing this.
But also, if the "collateral damage" included members of their families, that could make "home grown terrorism" and alliances with anti-US Islamic factions more of a threat.
One would hope we would have the leadership necessary to do what has to be done when the time comes.
Exactly. Just one more reason to build a fence and secure the border. Mexico has been slowly invading us for years, without needing to use any violence.
If we actually close the border, they may, through their drug cartel proxies, try to escalate the invasion. But either way, we just need to secure and defend our borders.
Wants more american blood spilled in Mexico. Another reason to not vote for him....Invading a neighbor is not my idea of a smart leader...Military on OUR side of the border makes sense. Thats not what he suggested...
