The Washington Post's attempt to "macaca" Rick Perry generated a racialist response from a surprising source. Stephanie McCrummen's ham-handed effort to smear the Texas Governor relied on hearsay, anonymous cloudy recollections of events from nearly 30 years ago and interviews with black Texas residents recalling how they were treated in the Jim Crow 1950's. Ms. McCrummen is a reporter based in Nairobi: it would seem the Post could bring in someone based in Texas for this research, but perhaps the editors weren't looking for someone with local knowledge so much as someone willing to grind the ax against Governor Perry. Jazz Shaw at Hot Air accurately describes this screed as journalistic malpractice.
Governor Perry's name wasn't on the lease for this property until 1997, 14 years after the offensive term was removed from a boulder outside the property. Mr. Perry's record on matters of race is reportedly unassailable. Which brings us to the surprising source of racialist commentary about the Washington Post's pet rock.

Governor Perry never owned the property, and it appears that he suggested his father remove the offensive word as soon as he saw it. He didn't "leave it up there" at all. Perhaps Mr. Cain felt his need to establish bona fides with the black community superseded his responsibility to be respectful to his fellow candidate. Playing the race card was one of the last moves I would have expected from Herman Cain. His willingness to pile on the smearing of Governor Perry seems more like something we could expect from Barack Obama or Al Sharpton than a principled conservative....

This story is dead in the water and won't even last the 48-hour news cycle in my opinion. By next Saturday folks won't even remember this thing, the few that heard about it.
The libs effort to smear Herman Cain, I must say, IS somewhat interesting to watch.

La Raza translates from the Spanish to “the Race.” The group has been associated with the motto: “Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza, nada.” This translates as “For The Race, everything, outside The Race, nothing.” The group publicly rejects it’s link to this motto as well as any connection to the popular Mexican concept of “reconquista” (Mexico) or taking back the southwestern United States by overwhelming demographics. The details of La Raza’s use of those federal funds includes generous compensation to 17 foundation officers and board members ranging from $119,675 to $378, 446. The tax returns also itemize a total of $800,787 for expenses “to lobby the U.S. government for money.” Apparently at one time this made sense. A similar donation to a white supremacist group would never had gotten out of the gate. Paying special interest groups in order to enable them to lobby the government to pay them to lobby doesn’t seem like a very good investment, especially to a group promoting the continuation and extension of billions of dollars in payments for the welfare, education and medical payments for non U.S. citizens. Furthermore, you can’t see your obvious hypocrisy.
Perry Supporters think the following
1) It’s okay for Perry to trash conservative voters as heartless in a national Republican debate.
2) They think it’s no big deal Perry went a hunting grounds that had an obvious racist name.
Like a liberal Perry supporters attack a black candidate for answering how he felt about it.
So the mindset of a Perry voter is that it’s okay for Perry to call conservatives “heartless”, but don’t you dare be honest with the people when asked a question.
Yup all the reason why Perry is a horrible choice. You are nuts if you do not think the Democrats would let this go.
I honestly now believe Perry cannot defeat Obama in a National election because of the hunting incident. The media and the press will go on and on and on about it.
Contrary to what some may try to say, this story does not appear to be going away for Cain. The American Thinker is a highly respected journalistic think tank, and I don’t think they would have carried this on yet another day as they are had this been a small story.
I don’t always get to listen to Mark Levin but had the privilege of listening to his Monday afternoon radio program, and he was livid Cain was involved in this racially-scripted lie.
The author of your article mentioned it reminded him of Bachmann’s “over the top” allegations. It does seem over the top, but I believe there was another factor this time with Cain. I think Obama gave him bait, and unfortunately Cain was too naive and ran with it.

This story is over. Perry fans will have to come up with something else to get upset about.
Something about Perry just seems off to me. I don’t think he can beat Obama.
Not only are the serious journalistic outlets keeping this story on the front burner, Cain is getting laughed at on many Twitter accounts now too.

Except it’s not over if it’s still getting ink! Cain took the bait thrown out and is suffering the consequences. That is the way the ball bouncs in the big leagues.
This was the worst case of yellow journalism and Cain ran with it until it backfired on him.
I rarely disagree with rush, but I don’t think Cain said anything he needs to be ashamed of. I think perry was by far more racist in his Hispandering.
I would never hunt in a park with such an offensive name, if that is the story. Buying it and changing the name is acceptable, but even entering such a park is just distasteful to me.
