President Barack Obama said Monday he does not regret a $528 million loan to a solar energy company that later collapsed, saying officials always knew a clean energy loan program would not back winners 100 percent of the time.
"There are going to be some failures, and Solyndra's an example," Obama said in a television interview, referring to a California solar panel maker that declared bankruptcy last month and laid off its 1,100 workers. The company's failure has become a rallying cry for critics of Obama's clean energy program who say the government should not try to predict winners and losers in the volatile renewable energy market.
Obama disputed that, saying China is pouring "hundreds of billions of dollars into this space." If the United States wants to compete with China, Germany and other countries that are heavily subsidizing clean energy, "we've got to make sure that our guys here in the United States of America at least have a shot," Obama said.
Obama, in an interview with ABC News, was asked whether his administration had ignored warnings about Solyndra, as some congressional Republicans assert.
"Well, hindsight is always 20-20," he said.

I can hear our commander-in-chief say that line when Iran drops the bomb.
He’s going to double-down now because he’s been busted and has nowhere to run to.
No regret? That’s a good one! That “loan” put millions into
his reelection coffers. Why would he have regrets?
I bet if he and the wookie lost $500,000 he’d have some regrets
and a bus’ lip
Hindsight is always 20-20 when your head is up your backside
“Well, hindsight is always 20-20,”
I hear most of the electorate is saying that now.
He has no regrets because he’s achieving what he wanted to...more or less.
His only regret is that Solyndra bombed too early. He was counting on a second term to stick the shiv further into the country.
If it becomes clear that he has no hope at all in 2012, he’ll amp up the destructive behavior even more.
B. Arrogant
C. Lib-Minded
D. All of the Above
I'll take D.
He cannot see anything other than how correct he is, it's impossible for him. Every time he feels his bubble threatened, he self-medicates some way. Street drugs, prescription drugs, it doesn't matter to him because whatever it takes to keep his bubble in place is just fine. Left, right, right, wrong, they're all meaningless to him other than as tools to keep his bubble intact or threats to his bubble.
Of course he has no regrets. He wouldn’t take responsibility for doing something wrong, ergo he doesn’t do anything wrong to regret.
There are no words for the contempt I have for this keyan marxist wretch.
Nice quote, but I would modify it: "There are going to be catastrophic failures, and the Obama Regime is an example."
Isn't "doubling down" essentially the same as "bluffing" ?
If I loaned money, even if to a trusted friend and didn't get repaid, I'd have regrets. Of course Obama wasn't loaning his own money but ours.
Even CNN had a bit this AM about emails expressing “concern” over Idi Obama’s visit to Solyndra, as it was even then obvious it was going to tank.
FUBO. It’s all fun and games when you’re using OPM, you POS.
DEFUND socialist collectives, foreign and domestic.
That was at least the first stage of the plan - the "top-down" part. Next comes the "bottom-up" phase: from the streets - and it has already begun.
“Sin is ... being out of alignment with my values.”
Barack Obama, Nov 20, 2008
1) Bring down America through crushing debt, through excessive spending.
2) Replace all viable energy sources that are capable of supporting a capitalist economy with fake energy sources that are incapable of doing so, with the goal of destroying and replacing said capitalist economy with a socialist/communist economy.
