Sarah Palin-affiliated law firm made early-state deadline inquiries
Politico ^ | 10/04/2011 | Maggie Haberman

Ken Vogel and I both have sources telling us that calls were made on behalf of a mystery candidate to various early states to determine presidential filing deadlines. Continue Reading

The calls were made by representatives of the law firm Baker Hostetler - a firm that employs lawyer Mark Braden, who represents Sarah PAC, her political action committee.

As Ken notes, while he nor representatives of Palin’s campaign would comment on the calls, Palin is the only GOP politician eying the presidential race who is represented by the firm.

It wouldn’t be the first time that her representatives have sought information on the deadlines marking the ever-shifting GOP calendar.

The current thinking in GOP election law circles is that the first hard cut-off for entering the race is Oct. 28, when presidential candidates who hope to appear on the ballot in the New Hampshire primary would be required to submit a filing fee from a federally registered presidential campaign committee.

Pissing off the very people you need to have vote for you isn't exactly a winning campaign strategy.

That works both ways, huckleberry.

Palin is sending legal notices to Random House that threaten to sue, she has attornies sniffing around state election offices ... is her campaign going to be sponsored by the American Bar Association?

She did make a lot of lawyers a lot of money in Alaska.

So, what Todd is saying is that Sarah isn’t a barracuda or a mama grizzly, she’s a honey badger.

I’m OK with that.

A serious candidate wouldn’t ponder if he/she could impact more change in America as President, or as a paid speaker/media member/book pusher.

Sounds like something a serious candiate would already know.

Maybe, but the article doesn't exactly spell out when these phone calls happened.

Boy - talk about your “crony capitalism”. Getting her picture taken with her husband, who is wearing a TESORO jacket! What a hypocrite.

(I think one of her many lawsuits WAS for her wearing a jacket with a logo on it! Palin won, just like all the other silly lawsuits.)

Yes a serous candidate would already know that, but a candidate who would want to make sure the max number of people are standing by, holding their collective breaths, would have someone make some ‘unnecessary’ phone calls. You betcha. It is all over Twitter and FB. Palin said that when she has an announcement to make, we won't miss it. Not if all eyes are on Sarah. lol, love it.
