American student Amanda Knox flew home free on Tuesday after spending four years in an Italian jail, leaving the family of murdered British student Meredith Kercher racked with anguish that they are no closer to the truth about her killing.
Knox, cleared of the murder by an appeals court on Monday night, left Rome shortly before midday for London where she and her family were boarding a connecting flight to their home in Seattle, airport officials said.
The 24-year-old broke down sobbing and nearly collapsed with emotion on Monday night after an appeals court in Perugia ruled she and her former boyfriend, Italian computer student Raffaele Sollecito, were not guilty of killing Kercher and should be freed immediately.
Prosecutors said on Tuesday they would appeal against the ruling and Kercher's disappointed family said their ordeal and the search for answers about the brutal murder would go on.
"We're still absorbing it. You think you've come to a decision and now it's been overturned," Meredith's mother Arline told reporters at a news conference.

I wonder who will make A Million dollars first? Amanda Knox or Casey Anthony.......Bet the Talk shows and Larry Flynt are chomping at the bit.
They are already calling her Fort Knox as she will rake in at least $10MM for her story.
What about the guy in prison who admitted to doing it?
I am sure if the prosecutor has his way, Amanda will be making an involuntary return trip to Italy !
Who is Rudy Guede, I read he is the killer.
I’m guessing she will be pretty happy to be home and I am also guessing spaghetti will not be her welcome home dinner.

Poor girl, to be imprisoned that long for innocence, I would never leave Washington, let alone America ever again if I were her.
Europeans kidnapping our children never sat well with me, especially since their justice systems are fundamentally flawed (prove innocence). Add that to the fact that anything against an American instantly ignites “venting” on their envy of our civilization and lack of need for their old-world aristocrats and it is a recipe for persecution based on nationality.
only one person took Meredith’s life and he is in jail for that murder...all the evidence led to Gueda from the get go and only Gueda. There was zero evidence any more than one person was there at the time of Meredith’s murder.
Had police followed the ‘acutual evidence’ and not gone back 16hrs. later to the crime scene to search for something to support their “theroy”, this trial for these two would have never occured.
Justice has been served in part...ony because Gueda, by implicating Knox and her friend, had his sentence dropped to 16 yrs. and for changing his story so many times peoples heads spun, he not only murdered a woman but took four years off the life of innocent people.
Gueda had a criminal history, was kicked out of his home for lies that never stopped and crimes he committed. he had a history of arrests, carrying knifes...and all his behavior after the crime fit the scenerio of someone who has committed a crime. None of Knox or her boyfriends behavior fit the profile of this type of murder, then or sense the occurance.
Gueda also admitted to cell mates that Amanda and Rafaelle were not involved.

I wonder if that's one reason she told the dumb lies she told. As an Italian studies specialist she probably knew all too well how she could be railroaded.
..but he gets only 16 years (reduced time) because he implicated Knox and the boyfriend, although their DNA did not meet the level of proof as Guede.
And remember Amanda actually lived in the apartment complex.....
A lot of this has been lost in the vendetta against Knox, IMO

She has been cleared by lack of proofs and not because she is innocent. Anyway ,if she is not directly responsible of that horrible crime she may have a link with it since her way of life made it easier.
Italian justice should have kept her into judicial custody in Italia !
She is not an american heroe , except for liberal nuts
