Senate Democrats rewrite Obama's jobs bill (Reid and Cohorts want to add Millionaire's Surtax)

Senate Democrats are scrambling to rewrite portions of President Barack Obama's jobs bill, even as Obama tries to blame Republicans for Congress' failure to act.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell moved to call the president's bluff Tuesday by pushing for a quick Senate vote on the bill, but Democratic leader Harry Reid derailed the effort as all sides maneuvered for position in a potentially defining battle in the 2012 presidential campaign.

In the Senate, Democrats made plans to jettison provisions that Obama recommended to pay for the $447 billion jobs bill, substituting them with a tax increase on millionaires, officials said. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the closed-door developments.

Reid, D-Nev., outlined plans for a 5 percent surcharge in a meeting with the rank and file Tuesday, according to participants in the session, as Obama traveled to Texas to deliver his most caustic challenge yet to House Republicans who have not allowed a vote on the legislation unveiled nearly a month ago.

"What's the problem? Do they not have the time? They just had a week off. Is it inconvenient?" he said in Mesquite, Texas, singling out House Majority Leader Eric Cantor for special criticism.

Cantor has said the White House's "all or nothing approach is unreasonable."

But after three weeks of presidential demands for Congress to pass his jobs bill without delay, White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer said Obama was open to Reid's changes.

Please note:

Democrats said Reid's proposed millionaires' surtax was designed to quell much if not all of the opposition from his own rank and file.

To pay for his package of tax breaks, unemployment benefits and new spending on public works projects, Obama has proposed higher taxes on family incomes over $250,000 and on the oil and gas industry.

Well, give Obama credit for something, HE DID SAY HE WANTED TO TARGET THE RICH ( Those making above $250,000 even when he was campaigning for president and he's fighting to keep his promise ). Those earning above $250,000 who voted for him must really want to be taxed.

If all Americans would adopt a “No More Safe Seats” policy, everything the Democraps want would go down to a flaming defeat, and we might have a more responsible government that doesn’t pick the winners and losers.

The problem is the leadership (both parties). Neither wants any meaningful policies. They pass these bills that put the problem off for a future congress. The problem is the future congress still has the same bunch of losers running the show that gave us the current failed solutions, and thst solves nothing.

Reid said yesterday the democrats objection to the bill was that they didn’t want raise taxes on the wealthy and oil businesses (who fund their campaigns). And that they were having to look at alternatives to fund the bill. I figured they were trying to come up with some strategy to fool the public with what appears to be raising taxes on the wealthy and businesses, and I figured it would fall completely on the heads of the upper middle-class.

It’s still applicable. Senate can only PROPOSE a bill, they can’t ORIGINATE IT. What they proposed must still be originated by SOMEONE in the House. And let’s say this same bill they proposed was sponsored by some Democrat in the house, it still has to be VOTED ON.

Which simply means this in the end — IT WON’T PASS. Not with the Republicans in control.

Does this mean that all of the millionaires in Washington, Hollywood and Labor Unions will start paying their taxes? We have tax cheats running the Gov., crooks running the Labor Unions and mindless twits in Hollywood who support them and stupid sheep who say, Yea, tax the rich! This country is so gone!
