Reid: Even the tea party supports 5 percent tax increase on millionaires
By Nicholas Ballasy | The Daily Caller 1 hr 41 mins ago
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has proposed a 5 percent tax increase on millionaires to pay for President Obamas jobs bill, arguing that even the tea party supports his proposal.
More than 50 percent of the tea party and about 75 percent of other people in America agree that we need to do something about this so were going to propose to pay for this important jobs legislation by asking people who make more than a million dollars a year to pay 5 percent more to fund job creation to ensure this countrys economic success, Reid said at the Capitol on Wednesday. Independents, Democrats and Republicans and even the tea party agree its time for millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share of taxes.
The problem, Reid said, is that none of the Republicans who support tax increases on millionaires are in the Senate.

The problem lies not solely in the issue of taxing “millionaires”.
It lies in the realm of the government being unable to live within its budget - as we all must do individually. Emergencies are emergencies, but otherwise, they need to curtail spending and live prudently.
In the current climate, if the GOP approves ANY tax increases, the Obama Administration and the Senate Democrats will spend the money and use it to incur ADDITIONAL debts.
And if anyone thinks taxing “millionaires” will satisfy them, they are sadly mistaken. As time marches on, the definition of what constitutes a “millionaire” will become broader and broader. Frankly, if the taxed all the millionaires ON EARTH 100%, it STILL would be insufficient to sate their appetite for MORE MONEY.
Help me here Harry, give me ONE Tea Party supporter that supports this travesty.
No? Ok, don't let me be the first to call you a liar, or...
Harry, you were a boxer at one time, right? Let's meet at a neutral location, you and I, to have it out. One more thing, I'm your age. Let's have some fun Harry.

Hey! Let’s play ‘name the Dems that didn’ pay their taxes’!
Tom Daschle Charlie Rangel Timothy F. Nancy Killefer Geithner Al Franken...
Harry, what is the "this" you are talking about? It certainly isn't a tax on millionaires.
Harry Reid. . .yet another liberal who lies every time his lips move.
Why would the Tea Party support a tax to pay for a bill that the President insists is already fully paid for?
Harry: I live in your wretched state of Nevada & you certainly do NOT speak for me.
Wow.
They aren't even pretending to try anymore.
DC definition of a Millionaire = Any couple making $250,000 combined annually. Think that makes you short of a million especially after taxes.
I agree with you 100%
The elitest snobs don’t want new rich people.
I would love to see a bill like you propose just to see Buffett, Obama, Reid and the Hollywood lefties go bananas against it.
First, reduce federal spending back to pre-911 levels and require the one time “wealth” tax to go to pay down the debt. See harry reid run.
Lets play a better game.
Name the Dims who paid their taxes.
Not me Harry.
Please produce even one TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party member who wants more taxes.
Why would I believe anything a mob connected criminal like Harry Reid has to say?
YOU LIE.
“Lets play a better game.
Name the Dims who paid their taxes.”
Well, I was trying to start a game in which a lot of people can play;)
Well, if there is anyone left who needs proof that Reid is a liar, that should do it!
