A lefty wouldn’t bother to research it. They’d just run with it. Glad to hear Clint is still alive and working. Gran Torino was a bonus I didn’t expect, but I fear we’ve seen the last of Eastwood on screen.
I was sold the first time I saw the trailer—Get off my lawn! I couldn’t believe it. Clint did it again! I’ve been a fan of his since I was a boy. Love his sarcasm and coolness.
Something I learned about him recently is that he’s introverted and a musician. His first job in Hollywood was digging swimming pools the old fashioned way.
Seems like an appropriate turnabout. Hoover probably had the FBI investigate Eastwood’s sexuality too.
First time I ever saw him was when I was six or seven years old in “Paint Your Wagon”, an old musical about the California Gold Rush days.
As far as I know, it’s the only musical he was ever in, and the only one where he sang. Worth watching just for that.
True, only J. edgar just wanted to know, if Clint swings both ways.

Seriously, Paint Your Wagon is not a great movie musical, but it is worth watching, not just for seeing Eastwood in one, but also for its off the wall plot and humor.

OH, did everybody know that Clint Eastwood was on a old timey TV cowboy show called Rawhide??? I watched it some this summer on ME TV which you get with a antenna, before cable got hooked up, and it was really pretty good. They even had the I Dream of Jeannie person on it.
Yeah, I first saw it at a drive-in. Loved it.

Good, I liked the movie mostly because of Eastwood, but why aren’t anybody talking about “Rawhide” when talking about his carer? seems to me that was the beginning of it all
If you liked Gran Torino, check out Harry Brown starring Michael Caine. It’s pretty much a British version of the same story, with Caine as a veteran pensioner living in a public housing area that’s been taken over by the same kind of thugs we saw rioting over there this year.
Yeah, he played Rowdy Yates on Rawhide. I used to watch it on syndication when I was a kid, but I think plenty of FReepers remember when it was broadcast live every week!
If you like those kind of shows, check out Encore Western channel, they play like 2 hours of old Western tv shows every afternoon.
Yeah, I saw it the first time around. Rowdy Yates was a star before the spaghetti westerns.

I usually don’t watch cowboy stuff, unless it’s like Concrete Blonde’s Ghost of a Texas Ladies’s Man type things, but this was the only channel that came in good. I was real surprised that the shows were as good as they were and had really good plots. Even Marshall Dylan. Plus, there was one called Honey West that came on and then on one channel one called Route 66. Sooo, I kept the antenna and sometimes still watch the stuff.

Good point. It's hard to say how bad Hoover really was given the Leftist brainwashing of America over the last 40 years. He probably did do a little too much spying on Americans but the destruction to his reputation is probably as much of crime as it was to McCarthy's.

They released several records on vinyl of his “singing”. It was explained that the movie company wanted to keep their actors in the public eye.
I watched Rawhide as a little girl along with Combat and Voyage under the Sea....and flipper and Safari with Judy the monkey and Clarence the Lion..Ponderosa, the Big Valley...Zoro...ahhh the good ole days...

Oh, Combat was the ME TV channel too, but I didn’t watch it. There was one on called The Untouchables which was pretty good and it was about gangsters. Plus, there is something called Svengoolie that is on Saturday nights and is classic scary movies. At least now I know I could live without cable.
Be that as it may, he deserves credit for smashing Hitler's spy rings in America and for nailing a number of Soviet spies.

Ironically, Hoover was against FDR’s rounding up of Japanese American citizens and the ACLU gave him an award for it...
