He’s prepping a new movie in which he’ll star. It’s a GRAN TORINO like character in a baseball setting.

Good, I liked the movie mostly because of Eastwood, but why aren’t anybody talking about “Rawhide” when talking about his carer? seems to me that was the beginning of it all

If you liked Gran Torino, check out Harry Brown starring Michael Caine. It’s pretty much a British version of the same story, with Caine as a veteran pensioner living in a public housing area that’s been taken over by the same kind of thugs we saw rioting over there this year.

Yeah, he played Rowdy Yates on Rawhide. I used to watch it on syndication when I was a kid, but I think plenty of FReepers remember when it was broadcast live every week!

If you like those kind of shows, check out Encore Western channel, they play like 2 hours of old Western tv shows every afternoon.

Yeah, I saw it the first time around. Rowdy Yates was a star before the spaghetti westerns.

“Hey I got it! Remember the theme from Rawhide?”

“The old favorite... Rowdy Yates.”

“What key?”

“A. Good Country key.”

I usually don’t watch cowboy stuff, unless it’s like Concrete Blonde’s Ghost of a Texas Ladies’s Man type things, but this was the only channel that came in good. I was real surprised that the shows were as good as they were and had really good plots. Even Marshall Dylan. Plus, there was one called Honey West that came on and then on one channel one called Route 66. Sooo, I kept the antenna and sometimes still watch the stuff.

First time I ever saw him was when I was six or seven years old in “Paint Your Wagon”

Me, too. What a great movie. Loved it when the whole town collapsed.

Yeah, I think the things the FBI said about the Kennedys (all of them), MLK, the Soviets and their spies and the KKK were all terrible, “vile, corrupt and dishonest”.

Good point. It's hard to say how bad Hoover really was given the Leftist brainwashing of America over the last 40 years. He probably did do a little too much spying on Americans but the destruction to his reputation is probably as much of crime as it was to McCarthy's.

****As far as I know, it’s the only musical he was ever in, and the only one where he sang.****

They released several records on vinyl of his “singing”. It was explained that the movie company wanted to keep their actors in the public eye.

Agree.
Great McCarthy book is “Blacklisted in History’ by M. Stanton Evans.

Oh, Combat was the ME TV channel too, but I didn’t watch it. There was one on called The Untouchables which was pretty good and it was about gangsters. Plus, there is something called Svengoolie that is on Saturday nights and is classic scary movies. At least now I know I could live without cable.

I do know [J Edgar Hoover] was a total crackpot. He was also vile, corrupt and dishonest.

Be that as it may, he deserves credit for smashing Hitler's spy rings in America and for nailing a number of Soviet spies.

Ironically, Hoover was against FDR’s rounding up of Japanese American citizens and the ACLU gave him an award for it...

Ironically, Hoover was against FDR’s rounding up of Japanese American citizens and the ACLU gave him an award for it..

Earl Warren, another liberal icon, also favored rounding up the Japanese Americans. Other groups committed to fighting race discrimination including the NAACP, the American Jewish Committee and the Communist Party either supported this policy or remained silent. On the other hand, Senator Robert A. Taft (R-Ohio), the nation's leading conservative, spoke out against Japanese internment.
