Sarah Palin pledged to stay an active part of the political discussion as she announced she wouldnt be making a 2012 White House run.
On Greta Van Susterens Fox News show Wednesday night, Palin told supporters that shes sorry if they are disappointed that she passed on the race.
I apologize to those who are disappointed in this decision, she said. Ive been hearing from them in the last couple of hours but I believe that they, when they take a step back, will understand why the decision was made and understand that, really, you dont need a title to make a difference in this country. I think that Im proof of that.
Palin told Van Susteren that her husband, Todd Palin, heard from some of the GOP presidential candidates since making her announcement at 6 p.m. She did not identify which ones.
Palin added that she considered the thought that, by not running in 2012, she may forfeit any future chance to do so.
The US economy is finished if our choices end up being Obama and Romney. 300 million people -- and this is the best we can do?
Breaking news? Really?
Reagan wasn’t liked by the GOP establishment and it took him 25 years to get a nomination.
Her political action committee, SarahPAC, reported $1.402 million cash on hand in July, the latest records that are available. The report showed that while she spent a considerable sum $673,000 raising money, she did little to bolster a staff, instead paying her parents for jobs listed as correspondence and card mailing.
Governor Palin has her priorities right: God, family, and THEN country. She said she was thinking about running, and it appears she was. It wasn’t some grand political strategy any more, in my opinion, than an attempt to make more money off of her popularity (as some FReepers claim).
I don’t think she’s either the saint or sinner that many people make her out to be. She seems like a talented, moral lady who has her head on straight. There are millions more just like her. Any one of them could make a much better president than Mr. Obama.
If the loss of Sarah Palin for president kills America, then we’re beyond saving anyway, but I still believe in the many millions of hard-working, moral, play-by-the-rules Americans like Governor Palin. The only way we’re guaranteed to lose is if we give up!
About your title.
Hyperbole much?
Good point. I remember Reagan at the edges for years, derided and marginalized. His election was actually Goldwater’s win, and over a decade in the making.
“About your title. Hyperbole much?”
Get back to me in 2016, after four years of either Obama or Romney. We’re through.
Humor must have a element of truth. Palin is the anti-drama queen. I watched her TV show. Sure her Dad loaded her gun, but did you notice the tough slog they made through the marsh? She was whipped, but not complaining. You pic is a left/loon narrative, i.e. the truth matters not, just say it. Mysogynist putz describes you perfectly, but I would never say that about a shut-in.
She hired the best, most loyal and
trusting...her parents.
I love you Latin tagline, but doubt that you know any Latin other than standard oft used phrases. I took Latin for two years, I suspect you didn’t. Just more evidence that you are pretentious, plus the other stuff I said before, but I would never say that about someone living in their mother’s basement.
I have stepped back and thought about it like she said to do. and I still don’t understand.
the lady is acting like this is 1996. These are not normal times and the office of the Presidency is way more important than she makes it sound like it is.
“Get back to me in 2016, after four years of either Obama or Romney. Were through.”
We’re living under Obama right now. You know what? An urban NY district that was Democrat for 90 years became Republican because Jews decided to vote for a Catholic Republican because the Jewish Democrat was for gay marriage.
Thanks, but I'm already taken.
As extremely disappointed as I am, my faith is in God to save our nation, not a human being. God can use anyone. When we forget that, that’s when we’re doomed. If Gov. Palin is obeying Him, then that is His Will for her and for us.
You are a quitter. Sarah Palin doesn’t run, so America is over? Totally ridiculous.
“As extremely disappointed as I am, my faith is in God to save our nation, not a human being. God can use anyone. When we forget that, thats when were doomed. If Gov. Palin is obeying Him, then that is His Will for her and for us.”
Amen.
“You are a quitter. Sarah Palin doesnt run, so America is over? Totally ridiculous.”
Get back to me in four years, after four years of Romney, or another four years of Obamanination.
“Get back to me in four years, after four years of Romney, or another four years of Obamanination.”
We’ll still be here fighting for America.
Romney hasn’t won the GOP nomination. He might, but once again you are giving up.
“Palin added that she considered the thought that, by not running in 2012, she may forfeit any future chance to do so.”
Duh. It’s over for her. Completely.
She waited until Oct. 5 to decline?
That was disrespectful to her supporters. It’s now clear she had no intention of running.
The good news is no more Bristol or Levi crap.
The gravy train is over.
We don’t have 25 years.
“Romney hasnt won the GOP nomination. He might, but once again you are giving up.”
I’m describing the situation as it is. With a population of more than 300 million people, when people like Obama and Romney are the guys at or near the top, and decent, qualified people like Palin are scared away from office and do not run at a time they’re desperately needed, it speaks to a much bigger problem than Obama. It speaks to a system and maybe a country that has failed.
The first step to really fixing a problem is understanding just how big and deep that problem is.
We keep getting the likes of DoleMcCainShrubClintonObamaGore to pick from. This has become travesty. It is a tragedy. America is not working.
“We dont have 25 years.”
Imagine what the government-dependency ratio will be by then. What kind of electorate will this be - not the kind to vote for the things we and Palin believe in. The country we grew up in is dead. Can it rise again like a Phoenix - maybe, but doubtful, given the depths of the degradation of the electorate.
se_ohio_young_conservative: “These are not normal times and the office of the Presidency is way more important than she makes it sound like it is.”
If you’re a Christian, then you should understand that running for president is NOT more important than doing what God tells you to do. If you’re not a Christian but you’re a conservative, then you should understand running for president is NOT more important than taking care of your family. As far as I’m concerned, this proves Sarah Palin has her priorities straight. We have no right to tell her she must sacrifice faith and family to serve us.
MSM: WIN_______________________Sarah Palin: LOSS
When everyone else is out to make a buck with an 'exposee', why not play it close with people you know you can trust?
Same bumper sticker
While her credibility as a leader appears flawed, the Conservative message which she espoused remains true. The real challenge now to we Conservatives is to make certain our cause isn't defeated (by the establishment and their media) as a result of Palin's decision.
I am sure if youre a Palin supporter you are seeing this already, but I just want to take a minute to clue you in on the typical operating procedures in the Leftist and Cocktail Party GOP establishment ranks in the next few days, there will be a concerted effort to tune you out of the 2012 election completely.
The Left intends to alienate you, to drive you off on a craze third party delusional path off into the wilderness, and to marginalize you so that you are removed as an impediment to Obama in 2012.
America has been through worse before. The Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI, the Great Depression, WWII, and has always bounced back. Yes, we have serious problems now. That is the exact time to be strong and not give up.
Smokeyblue: “Its now clear she had no intention of running.”
And you know that how? You just assume she’s a liar. Put yourself in her position. She’s a Christian, and that means she’s going to pray for guidance before making major decisions. She also has a family, including a young child. Finally, there’s also the possibility that she considered the harm she might do if she entered the race (splitting the conservative vote for example). We don’t really know, but you just assume the worse...about a conservative and decent person who is clearly OUR political ally. For shame!
Reagan didn’t quit the Governerhip like Palin did . HUGH difference .
Holy cow, I meant 15 years. Anyway, to get this change we’ll need to have more elections like we did in 2008. It took over 10 years for the Bushes and the RINOs to clear the Reaganites out of DC. We can’t rely on one person like Reagan or Palin. The Reagan Revolution was undone by trusting the GOP leadership to do the right thing and follow the Reagan model. We can’t allow that mistake to happen again.
The audience was cheering loudly when it was announced on Jay Leno that she wasn’t running. I wouldn’t expect to find 10 percent of that crowd to be Palin supporters. Maybe there was an applause prompt, I don’t know. But to applause as if the country dodged some kind of bullet?
I just thought— Can these people really be that stupid? Do they really want more of this current idiot? I have to agree with Wilkow, if we get 4 more years of this president, the people who elected him deserve what they get. Unfortunately, we’re going to get it right along with them.
She has deflected a lot of media energy off the current field. Her considering a run has brought many of the GOP snakes out of the grass, caused people to embrace positions which show their RINO tendencies, and as such has drawn a lot of fire from the Media and Pubbies alike.
The cards are on the table, now, and we know who is holding what. I think she's done a fine job at that, and somehow, for those seeking a 'saviour' instead of a President, that isn't enough.
The bottom line lesson in all this is that America has to save itself. We, the People, the wellspring of all government power, have to stand on our own hind legs and rein in the monstrosity in DC, not just wait for someone to do it for us. That requires us to be active and engaged at every level, from the local government which greedily eyes millions in "federal" money grants, to the COngress and the White House.
Bull crap. She's not playing by the same set of rules. If she's doing what's right by God and her family, then she's a winner in the truest possible sense.
You missed the most likely option: The U.S. is broken beyond repair.
Look at the numbers and face reality. We had some chance before Obama. But that spawn of satan has driven us into greater depths of debt than I thought possible.
Who, in their right mind, wants to be president when the debts finally decide our course?
Shadow Wars, my friend. We are seeing the battlelines being drawn and pretend we don’t. This has nothing to do with who is president and a LOT more to do with who controls the presidency...and it hasn’t been We the People for an awfully long time.
Each and every one of us has a duty to stand up against this. One person cannot do it. Sarah has chosen to fight on THEIR turf, not from inside an imaginary bubble called the presidency. She has more guts than anyone has given her credit for.
Does anyone here REALLY believe that obama controls ANYTHING? He’s so frikking stupid he can’t remember what year it is.
Look around you. The left has total control. If that control thinks it will LOSE control, they will begin a scorched earth. That is what we are looking at. That is what Sarah sees. Her entrance into this race would have triggered that. Are you people so blind that you can’t see what is going on?
We need to become an army or yes, we die.

Yes and Yes.
Every liberal I know parrots the the teleprompter reader's blame of the Republicans. Every one. Not one questions him or his increasing debt. Not one can sustain a reasonable dialogue about him; it always ends with my being called a racist.
Secondly she was hounded out of office with a new law suit damn near everyday, that she was going broke having to foot the bill.
Thirdly, no one was running around with tee shirts reading Ronald Reagan is a c_nt when Reagan was running. The rabid dogs of the left have completely taken over the media. She didn't stand a chance. The nasty vitriol that Reagan faced was nothing compared to how Palin and her family was torn apart.
ping to post #42
the MSM wrecked that woman and, in the process of wrecking her, they probably wrecked her family too.
the young punk conservative wannabee’s have NO CLUE what is going
where are they when it comes to retrobution for all the slander that has become the norm from the left .. they hide behind FREEDOM OF SPEECH so they don’t have to do anything
FREEDOM OF SPEECH has a responibility to it and all should be held to that, but that would actually require some work
How do we defeat them ? How do we make sure that never happens again to any other candidate in the USA.
The founding fathers wanted the media to be tough and nasty, They have that right. I don’t know how we can solve this problrm.
Yes, thanks, and I agree.
