The White House Press Office announced that President Barack Obama will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. this morning — though no topic was announced.
Obama is in the middle of a weeks-long push on his jobs bill, which is certain to take up a significant portion of the questioning. We expect him to be asked about the Occupy Wall Street protests, and the killing of U.S.-citizen Anwar al-Awlaki as well.
Also expect Obama to be asked about his criticism of Bank of America's $5 fee for checking account customers and his increasingly-combative tone toward Republicans as his reelection campaign hits high gear.
UPDATE: CNN is reporting that Obama will endorse the over-5% millionaire surtax proposed by Senate Democrats yesterday. The tax would go above and beyond allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire — potentially raising the top marginal tax bracket to 44.6 percent.
The Buffett Rule only would apply to a fraction of millionaires and billionaires with effective tax rates below that of the average middle-class family. The surtax would hit all incomes over $1 million — and would be on top of the expiration of the Bush tax cuts in 2013.

Sure, why not? Since he can’t get it passed anyway, why not endorse a 50% Net Worth Tax on “millionaires and billionaires”? It will make the crowds camping out around Wall Street swoon.
