'Furious' mess has Justice in full panic
New York Post ^ | October 6, 2011 | Michael A. Walsh

So now the Fast and Furious affair has reached Stage 2 of the classic Washington scandal: House Republicans have called for a special counsel to investigate Attorney General Eric Holder himself for possible perjury.

Justice Department documents indicate that Holder knew of the operation way back in July 2010 --far earlier than the “in the last few weeks” that he told congressional investigators under oath last May.

Memos from Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer and others to Holder clearly show the scope, if not the nature, of the disastrous project: “This investigation, initiated in September 2009 . . . involves . . . straw purchasers [who] are responsible for the purchase of 1,500 firearms that were then supplied to Mexican drug cartels.”

That’s the crux of the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ infamous “gunwalking” program, allegedly designed to track illegal gun sales to Mexican drug gangs by turning a blind eye toward, and possibly facilitating, arms sales in Arizona and elsewhere. The death toll so far is more than 200.

It sounds like CBS is pushing their reporter to change the meme to “Well, Bush did it too...”.

If it is true that the F&F weapons(and many other similar gunwalking operations by Holder’s ATF)had no tracking capabilities enabled, that would defy all their claims about this being a sting operation gone bad. Did Bush’s gunwalking operations use trackable weapons?

The documents revealed to date indicate that Holder and Obama both knew of this injustice. Time to Prosecute and punish (imprison) both.

There is a pinciple that neither understand or are willing to live by; “The Commander is responsible for all that happens under their Command, Good or Bad.”

No, we need them to be locked in jail or executed after due process - and only after the whole story has been exposed. One of my fears is that F&F witnesses will start “committing suicide” much like Vince Foster did: with dried blood drips that would have had to run uphill for the position he was in when they found him.

Anybody who IS involved might find this a good time to start singing so they can get some protections before this happens to them.

Face it, unless the majority of the MSM Obama boot lickers decide to go forward on this, hard and heavy, it will peter out.

Theoretically I suppose the Republicans in congress could go on indefinitely with investigations. They could even shut down House business until action is taken. They won’t do either. The Republicans don’t have the balls to turn this into a 24/7 news story.

Suppose Holder appoints a prosecutor? Takes no imagination to predict the outcome there. A whitewash that will follow with the media and all the libs saying “move on, case closed”.

IMO, unless the media turns on Zero in a very big way (not a chance) this will go away.

I heard Fox repeating this Bush did it too defense, sounds like it is false

Gunwalker: Gunning Down the ‘Bush Did It, Too’ Lie

The Bush Justice Department ran a sting operation intended to interdict weapons. Guns were never allowed to walk.

Wide Receiver sought to track and interdict guns being smuggled south using a combination of RFID-tracking devices embedded in the shipments and overheard surveillance aircraft.

Sting operations can sound similar. For example if two operations were being done to catch drug dealers but one CAUGHT the dealers - and the other one (designed the same) put drugs in the hands of drug lords and NEVER arrested anyone - they would be VERY different operations...

more from Pajamas media link

...Wide Receiver failed because of the limitations of the technology used, compounded by the ineptness of its installation and the unexpected resourcefulness of the cartel’s gun smugglers.

As a result of the mistakes made in Wide Receiver, guns were lost: approximately 450 made it into Mexico. As a result, the botched operation launched in 2006 — and in this instance, actually botched — was shut down in 2007

Fast and Furious used neither tracking devices nor aircraft, ran interference for smugglers with local law enforcement on multiple occasions, and federal agents were not allowed to interdict weapons.

Wide Receiver shut down within a year after 450 weapons went missing in a botched law enforcement operation. Fast and Furious purposefully ran at least 2,020 weapons to the Sinaloa cartel without any intention of arresting the straw purchasers and smugglers.

Pshaw! No problemo.

It just depends on what the meaning of “last few weeks” is.

Holder needs to talk to Clinton.

Adding this to the thread, as a another example of a pattern of corruption. Holder/Obama administration willing to ignore the law.

..the reason Holder dropped the New Black Panther Case.

......Among those appearing with Obama was Shabazz, the Panther leader who was one of the defendants in the voter intimidation case that Attorney General Eric Holder dismissed.

This is about perjury now. The senior law enforcement players in the Obama Justice Department committing perjury on video and in writing multiple times....

This makes the Nixon thing look small and CBS is being blamed for it....funny....in this case “deep throat” will be one of the folks on the indictment and it will be an e-mail....with a candlestick in the library.

In the case of Bush, they were targeting a couple of people (fly-by-night unlicensed dealers) who sold guns that they knew were going directly to the Mexican drug gangs, and were selling large quantities of them to known Mexican gang members. None of the guns ever made it out of the country, and the guns (and the people) were apprehended as soon as the deal was closed.

Also, it wasn’t a set-up (F&F forced legitimate dealers to sell guns to people they knew were involved in crime and weren’t supposed to have them).

Republicans Say Holder Received at Least 5 Fast and Furious Memos

Top congressional Republicans said Thursday that Attorney General Eric Holder received at least five weekly memos starting in July 2010 about the controversial gunrunning probe known as Operation Fast and Furious, though he claimed this past May he only learned of the operation a few weeks prior.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., released a series of heavily redacted memos apparently sent to Holder from Michael Walther, the director of the National Drug Intelligence Center. They appear to describe an operation involving the straw purchase of hundreds of firearms that went to Mexican drug cartels.
