I don't know whether this is accurate, and I have my doubts based on the source, but if true, blaming your potential voting base is asinine. He should be placing the blame squarely on Obama and the growth-killing policies of the federal government, not unemployed people who are trying to advance despite it all. Talk about reinforcing the worst elements of the stereotypes of conservatives as being the uncaring party of the rich. I hope this isn't true.

That's what Reagan would say.
And a reason why I like the guy.

I should add, that my reaction is based on the fact that the article says he “went on to blame the unemployed,” which I read as a subject matter change and referring to the unemployed at large, not the idiot career moonbats occupying some street corner. Again, I hope that isn’t the case, but if is...

People seem unfamiliar with bootstraps.
Preach it Mr. Cain!

Finally, someone that will tell it like it is. I agree

No it's not, don't be ridiculous. Reagan would have lifted people up with hope and spoken about the unique entrepreneurial nature of the American people and how government policy thwarts their rise...he wouldn't go for divisive finger-pointing at people down on their luck (provided were talking about the unemployed at large).

If this is actually how it “went down” - not a good way to say it.
There are ways to state this fact without coming across in a negative way.

No what is asinine is Conservative refusing to defend what is right because it might be unpopular.
Cain is right. Self Reliance, not whinny dependence is the key to success.
This right here is why Conservatives continually lose in politics. You let the opposition defined the terms on the battle field of ideas. When one of your own trys to change that paradime, you shoot him in the back instead of supporting him.
Cowardice and shamless pandering is not leadership.

...blaming your potential voting base is asinine. Do you think that these airheads were ever going to vote for Herman Cain or any other conservative Republican? I don't, and Cain probably doesn't either.
To: americanophile
It depends on who he’s referring to.
If he’s referring to the unemployed in general, he just stepped in it big time, and it’ll be used against him in the future.
He needs to clarify exactly what he meant by this comment.

Seems Watford City ND is growing like crazy. Job opportunities abound. Less than 1.5 day drive from Wall St., which has nothing to do with protesters’ complaints.

Boy you know NOTHING about Reagan.
Reagan is the one who coined the term "welfare queen".

“I don’t know whether this is accurate...”
Why would you post this if you’re not sure? Sounds like you’re trying to color the water. Who’s being asinine. Try to refrain from being a useful idiot for the Left, or other Republican candidates-unless, of course, you’re stumping for another candidate.
To: americanophile
Not everything is political. Some things are about individuals, not government.
I loved his response. Your post is just the typical Blame the Other Party for Anything Bad mantra.
Cain is 100% correct; if you are coveting what other people have, that means you 'don't have' and that is your own fault.
Only the uber-touchy are going to hear what he said and think he was attacking anyone who has lost their job.

Your problem is you read bigoted propaganda sources. Go read what he said in it full context, not what some Leftist propaganda bot tells you he said.

I saw this interview. This is taken so far out of context it is ludicrous.
