They might have USB drives. I believe that is how Manning downloaded all that info. That isn’t the same as internet access though. They may use flash drives to load flight data which is then stored elsewhere. I would think they would have a hard line for that though. I never had any interaction with any flight equipment.
I had heard about a sting operation recently where they left thumb drives lying around in the parking lots of buildings where DOD contract employees worked. If anyone plugged one into their work computer it immediately shut down and notified the admin, and they were terminated.
Wanting to see who would be stupid enough to put an unknown media source into the system.
Someone’s (if not many) career is certainly over though. You can bet on that.

In my world, once you were aware of the problem you would take steps to fix it, identify the source of the virus and institute procedures to keep this from happening in the future but you most certainly don't tell the world about the problem unless there is an ulterior motive.

I am wondering the same thing. Kind of like putting a sign on your house that someone stole all of your guns and ammo and that your vicious dog died. Sometimes silence is a good idea.
