Rick Perry Remarks at Values Voters Summit
C-SPAN Video ^ | October 7, 2011

Posted on 10/08/2011 12:01:07 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Some hold this world view that government must be central in our lives and serve as our caretaker - they seek more than equal opportunity, they seek equal outcomes. Those in the White House today don't believe in American exceptionalism, they'd rather emulate the failed policies of Europe. But we see what their policies have led to. 14 million Americans out of work. 45 million Americans on food stamps. And according to WSJ, nearly half of Americans receive government assistance.

I believe that Perry will shine through all of the negative attacks on him. This speech is how he can win the hearts and minds of America. He is not known as a good debater but in a Town Hall format and without the underling wannabe candidates scrambling for attention by attacking the front runners, Perry will prevail.

If Perry lacked the ability to be electable, then he would not have set a record for consecutive Gubernatorial terms in a state as difficult to govern as the state of Texas.

There is a huge difference between a state election and a national election. Despite all the propaganda the truth about perry’s left wing positions is coming through.

I’ve heard him say these words and watched him act on them for over 10 years. He means them and understands them.

The safety of our Nation depends on border security, and keeping terrorists, drug runners and spies from crossing the border, not on how we treat 18 year-olds whose families brought them here when they were 15 years old or less.

I posted some of this on my blog yesterday at http://wingright.org/2011/10/05/rick-perrys-record-on-border-security/

Here's what Perry said about amnesty in "Fed Up!"

We can have all the immigration debates we want, but Americans are demanding that the border be secured first.

We have already been burned once by false promises of border security in exchange for tying security to other aspects of the immigration debate. President Regan, in 1986, signed the immigration reform and control act, which legalized close to 3 million undocumented immigrants. The law was supposed to be a comprehensive solution with provisions intended to clamp down on border security. These provisions were never enforced, and the subsequent explosion in illegal crossings has resulted in some 11 million illegal aliens living in the United States today an estimated 1.8 million illegal immigrants are currently residing in Texas, compared with 1.1 million in 2000. In ten years, that represents an increase of 54 percent or 70,000 persons each year coming to our state illegally. Today, the Pew Hispanic Center estimates than about one in ten people born in Mexico live in the United States. And all of this has occurred outside the system and to the disadvantage of others who have been waiting in line for many years. There are literally millions of people waiting to get into the country legally. p. 118-119

and . . .

A grand, bipartisan compromise on immigration similar to the failed 1986 law was attempted in both 2006 and 2007. In the end, the bill died, largely because the American people had been to this before. According to an ABC News poll taken in the heat of the debate in 2007, two-thirds of Americans did not believe Congress was serious about controlling illegal immigration.

Now, the current administration willfully refuses to enforce the laws on the books. While President Bush didn’t do as much as I had hoped, his administration did step up workplace enforcement, reducing the enticement for illegal immigration. President Obama on the other hand, has reversed course. He also has intentionally undermined one of the few successful measures the federal government has implemented. Section 287 (g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act allows the deputization” of local law enforcement after training from federal authorities so that they may process illegal immigrants detained in the course of law enforcement activities for removal. This program simply allows local officials to aid Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the application of our laws

Bowing to pressure from interest groups in favor of unchecked illegal immigration, the Obama administration has instead issued new requirements intended to curtail the program by making it more expensive, among other things. So the Federal government is now manipulating successful programs to stop willing local jurisdictions from doing the federal government’s job themselves. pp122-123

(Referring to the explanation about 287 (g) at http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2010/03/time-to-stop-the-rush-for-amnesty-immigration-reform )

Perry is cramming for the next debate

Well he needs to be groomed and obvious even he sees this as he secluded himself and his handlers to a mountain retreat to "learn how to debate".

I don't think he understands that what 'he thinks' worked for Texas will not work for the country. He'll continue to state the border needs to be "secured"....rather than "closed".... this to protect the interests of Texas companies and the cheap labor agenda for the "community" he and Mexico have going on at the border. Perry will simply use verbage that "sounds" otherwise to the uniformed.

That’s right, eventually Perry’s true postions will shine through the lies, even though you didn’t intend that point.

(Sarcasm Alert)

Like Rick Perry:

Every “left winger” fights tooth and nail to stop Obamacare...

Every “left winger” fights tooth and nail against the EPA overreach in job killing regulations...

Every “left winger” rejects Global Warming and praises those scientists who have stood up to say it is junk science not true science...

Every “left winger” says he will work to make the Federal Government as inconsequential in your lives as possible...

Every “left winger” believes in letting you keep as much as possible of your own money, denying it to the government...

Every “left winger” rejects homosexual marriage and the gay lobby agenda and is pro traditional marriage and family...

Every “left winger” publicly thanks Israel for bombing the Iraq and Syrian nuclear facilities...

Every “left winger” would actually admit to a questioner that he does not believe in the Theory of Evolution...

And I could go on an on and on but time and space and readability are limited...

Thanks for the ping work!!

Amelia Perry(right), mother of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, shows her quilts at a meeting of the Buffalo Gap Republican Woman's Club at Perini Ranch Steakhouse Friday.
Perry called this quilt her "Scarlet O'Hara" quilt, because she made it out of a curtain during a time she was getting cancer treatments and spending most of her time at home.

“If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they’ve been brought there by no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart” - Perry”

Every comment I’ve seen about this accusation Rick Perry made against those who opposed him on the issue, focused on their taking umbrage at being told they have no heart. In fact, I think it was more their intelligence was being insulted by the way Perry framed the accusation, thinking no one would notice that we do educate the childen of those foreign citizens who enter the US illegally; but when they reach the age of majority the situation is totally different.

Gov. Rick Perry participates in ceremonies at Camp Mabry to redesignate the 49th Armored Division as the 36th Infantry Division. The former 49th Armored Division, which consists of approximately 12,000 soldiers, makes up almost two-thirds of the Texas National Guard. The division's redesignation as the 36th Infantry Division is part of the Texas Army National Guard's transition from a heavy armored force to a more versatile infantry force.

When you watch the video it’s easy to see the Mitt supporters, they sat on their hands when Perry mentioned he defunded planned parenthood in Texas.

"perry".....America has been the source of light in a world that’s been beset by darkness. And like a lighthouse perched on the shore, we have provided the safe harbor to millions who have been adrift in a sea of economic misery......We can still be the country we aspire to be – a source of light and hope to all who live here and those who come here."

Translation......."To all who want to enter the USA...come on in, we'll take care of you".

Perry doesn't get it that the immigrants who once came to this great nation, assimilated and became Americans, are not those coming in today. Who design their own communities and do not assimilate as Americans. Further their agenda is to conform and make America into a copy of their otherwise agenda.

So of course I don't buy his rhetoric....his actions do not stand the test.

Great Speech...cspan tried to screw Perry on putting this online. The video at their site with the afternoon of this meeting...had him totally cut out. They can say we lost the signal...I say total BS.

This Perry supporter up in Alaska says this is actually what is taking place. We see the blind leading the blind:

It has been said that history doesn't repeat; rather it echoes.

The echo this time around is the tag team routine shaping up with Cain and Romney vs Perry. In 2008, Huckabee stayed in the race after he had no money in order to split the conservative anti-McCain vote. This hurt Romney and gave the nomination to McCain. Cain, with his race baiting reaction against Perry (the painted rock story of the Washington Post) and his statements that he would consider running as VP with any other candidate in the field except Perry (even Huntsman??? - YGTBSM) are telling.

It is always a good idea to keep track of who the left is publicly going after, as it tells you who they are most scared of. In 2008, it was Palin. In 2010, it was Christine O'Donnell and Rand Paul. This election cycle, that target is Perry. They fired a 7-page, race baiting hit piece in the Washington Post this week. Democrats are talking about introducing a resolution in congress condemning Perry for the allegations in the bogus story. You don't do this to a candidate unless you are terrified of what they will do to you if elected. This is fast approaching the Palin treatment.

In contrast, Cain has had to dodge none of this. Contrast that with what the media and democrats did with the last black conservative they were scared of - Clarence Thomas. Then ask yourself, why isn't Cain getting the same treatment? An obvious conclusion is that the left is not scared of him and are giving him a free ride. This ought to give all of us pause.

The left and democrats ALWAYS tell us who they are scared of. They always tell us who the strongest conservative is. This election cycle, that candidate is Rick Perry. Which for the time being is good enough for me. Cheers -
