Santorum Says He'll Contend in Iowa (Romney not in a cult - is a Christian)
Fox News ^ | October 9, 2011

..........Now that Chris Christie and Sarah Palin have decided not to run, many political watchers are predicting that there is room on the right for one more contender to join the top ranks. Santorum said his path to victory lies in the Iowa caucuses, “The strategy is to go down and talk to the people of Iowa and do town hall meetings. And I have been to 70 counties of the 99 counties. … We are not hitting huge crowds but we are hitting the people who are the engine of the Iowa caucuses. And they are talking and have influence in their community.”

This week at the “Value Voters Summit” in Washington, DC, the big news did not come from a candidate for president, but rather a supporter of Texas Governor Rick Perry. Baptist minister Robert Jeffress introduced Perry and after the candidate’s speech said that Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney’s Mormon religion is a “cult.”

When asked to comment about Romney’s faith, Santorum who’s a favorite of Christian conservatives, said that he does not believe Mormonism is a cult and that Mitt Romney is a Christian.

Inside Romney controversy at conservative forum (It was about Bryan Fischer not Jeffress)

Romney tells conservative voters that “poisonous language” doesn’t advance their cause ........."Perry told a reporter in Iowa that he did not agree with Jeffress.".......

Romney responds to Mormon flare-up; Perry passes ............"At an event in Iowa later Friday, Perry was asked if he believes Mormonism is a cult. "No," Perry said.".......

2008: Herman Cain endorsed Mitt Romney:

July 2011: ......"Mr. Cain on Monday became the first of Mr. Romney’s nine declared and potential nomination rivals to say publicly and explicitly something long whispered: namely, that the former Massachusetts governor’s Mormonism is an obstacle too big to overcome in the most solidly Republican region in the country. The South has a high concentration of evangelical Protestants, many of whom doubt the legitimacy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Romney would be a good choice, but I don’t believe he can win,” Mr. Cain told editors and reporters of The Washington Times.

.....his religion. It doesn’t bother me, but I know it is an issue with a lot of Southerners.” Source

Lord love a duck.

Cain says that geographical and religious associations make one intolerant, then calls Perry "insensitive" on race and sucks up to Romney.

The Hill: Santorum: We've got enough money "Former Sen. Rick Santorum said Sunday that his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination had more than enough money to compete.

Santorum said his “grassroots” campaign, which has had struggles raising money, was able to make payroll and that his fundraising had zoomed up in the last weeks of the recently ended third quarter.

“If you have a huge campaign and lots of consultants, you need a lot of money,” Santorum said on "Fox News Sunday."

“I don’t. I try to just be the candidate that’s real, that’s out there and not scripted and not messaged by a group of folks who think that reading polls is the way you get votes in this country,” he added."...

Rick-

1. Grow a personality.

2. Learn that your country is being taken over by commies and government manufactured drones.

3. Not necessarily in that order.

Until such time, you ain’t goin’ nowhere.

Mitt Romney: We do have tough gun control laws in Mass. I support them and will not chip away at them.

Agree. Being a snot is not a personality.

I look for Santorum to be the next one to drop. Huntsman’s probably got more money.

Can you clear up this confusion?
What is Baptist definition of a Christian and ‘a cult’?

The church has failed in teaching Apologetics.

Every church, every person has to address Who is Jesus Christ? Is He Lord and Savior of your life?

4. Don’t support A-Holes like Specter over real conservatives like Toomey, especially when it leads to Obamacare.

I have no problem with Mormonism being called a cult as well as flat earthers being a cult. I would not elect either one of them President of the USA because what one believes affect who they are.

Per RCP, we haven’t seen a poll out of Iowa since the end of August.
While I find it odd we haven’t seen any recent polling, both polls (Ras and Magellen) had Santorum at 4%.
That’s not exactly “In Contention”.

“Santorum who’s a favorite of Christian conservatives, said that he does not believe Mormonism is a cult and that Mitt Romney is a Christian.”

If he was quoted accurately, I am surprised that Santorum does not understand what Mormons believe. If Romney follows Mormon beliefs he is NOT a Christian.

His religion is not why I won’t vote for him though.

I’d say let’s look a lot closer at Santorum. He’s bright, speaks well, seems to have a lot of character, and he’s pleasant. Even a little charismatic.

We need a deeper bench now since Palin ... quit.

Mormons are not Christians but hey...it’s more then obvious the establishment and conservatives would rather lie to protect Romney then say the truth about that.

Santorum doesn’t stand a chance in hell at being elected to national office. He comes across as being FAR FAR too unlikable, on camera anyway.

Romney has a problem in this regard too. He comes across as being like that executive in the company where you work that everyone hates.
