Tobacco definitely came from the New World. However, it is now considered incorrect (not for political reasons) to say that Pinta - found in the New World (similiar to syphilis) had its origens in Pinta. I believe the researchers have shown that to be false. I made the mistake of saying Syphilis was spread from South America to Europe...I was proven wrong.....wanted to save you the same embarassment.
