WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama's jobs bill, facing a critical test in the Senate, appears likely to die at the hands of Republicans opposed to stimulus spending and a tax surcharge on millionaires.

Scratching my head. If Prince Harry invoked the nuclear option to reduce Senate activity to simple majority, how can the Pubs stop anything?
I saw Joe Lieberman this morning on TV and he said that he couldn’t vote for it because A) the bill costs about half a trillion dollars and B) it does nothing to actually encourage investment and growth.
Yep, has nothing to do with Senate Rats, who face re-election next year, running away from it. It’s all the Pub’s fault.
New York Times, you can’t fail fast enough.
Oh, that said ATT not NYT... well, I still stand by it...LOL!
How many times are we going to fall for this.
Just go ahead and vote for the damn thing now, Republicans. We already know you're going to cave. Just get it over with.
They might be able to filibuster but that's not the same as killing it.
There are enough Liberal Republicans like Lisa Murkowski, Scott Brown, Olympia Snow, Susan Collins and a few others to overcome what Republican might deign to filibuster.
Stupid Yahoo News. You'd think they'd know that by now.
TO ALL RINOS, DINOS, AND ALL CONGRESSMEN AND CONGRESSWOMEN: NOW IS THE TIME TO COME TO THE AID OF AMERICA.
VOTE TODAY TO DEFEAT THE DEBT GREED, AND SPENDAHOLIC “JOBS” BILL OF THE DEBTOCRAT”S OBAMANATOR-IN-CHIEF, MR. YOU LIE OBAMA.
IF YOU CAN’T DO THIS FOR YOUR COUNTRY, THEN DO IT FOR THE FINANCIAL FUTURE OF YOUR DESCENDANTS.
On one hand, you’ve got the media spinning this furiously as the minority somehow killing Obama’s bill.
On the other hand, you’ve got conservatives clamoring to replace the same R’s with hardcore TEA Party activists.
If you’re a D in Congress, you’ve got to be amazed.
The headline should be “Minority set to outvote majority”.
Should all the Republicans simply vote “present”?
Who will have their neophyte asses handed to them in short order by the entrenched capitol hill cronies?
Are you a Susan Collins staffer?
Why would Republicans try to force a vote on the so-called jobs bill by tacking it to another bill as an amendment, then when it comes up by itself filibuster it to stop a vote on it? Is this story correct or just propaganda?
Olympia Snowe! lol. Yeah right. Whatever.
I'm just a rational boy from Central Texas.
I know BS when I see it.
And I've yet to see any politician on the current stage who can hold a candle to the real, actual conservative governance of Ronald Reagan....who would not survive the internecine squabbles of the right today much less win the presidency again.
Who was your super-duper conservative candidate in 2008? 2004? 2000?
They didn't cave on Porkulus.
They're not going to cave on this one.
Last time I checked the Democrats were the majority in the Senate. That along with Reid’s “nuclear option” means that the only people who can stop “Obama’s Jobs Bill” are the Democrats.
I just canceled my subscription to MAD magazine and subscribed to The New York Times. The Times is much funnier.
