Say what you will about the tea party -- and I've said plenty -- they did have an effect on elections.

The question now is, can the Occupy Wall Street folks have the same effect?

We've seen the protests the past weeks, although they seem more splintered than anything else. They are outraged about foreclosure fraud, joblessness, student loan availability, wealth imbalance, the federal debt, the fate of the middle class, you name it.

What is this, a joke? Those losers don’t even know how to vote. On the other hand, the effect of this mob may be to turn independents off, so both Occupy and the Tea Party will bring votes to republicans.

Yeah, but they have the MSM behind them 100%. There are fewer "99%ers" in all of the protests across the nation than will normally show up at a single tea-party rally, but as far as the MSM is concerned, they are equivalent, more consequential, and superior in every way.

Actually, it's not "pull" its "push". The more the Occupy people do, the more pics of protesters bathing in garbage, having sex in the open and defecating on cars, the more people will be pushed TOWARD the Tea Party which is the "alternative" for the weak-minded people in the center. I support the Occupy crowd ... the more they do, the better it is for the REST of America, they are showing "who" they are and "what" they believe in. When a Dem "sides" with them, then that Dem is siding with garbage, open sex and defecation. If that's what they believe in, fine with me. Let them define themselves, then in Nov 2012 THE PEOPLE will vote to get rid of the garbage and make America whole agin.

The tea party will win due to its much more reasonable aims. It is not trying to create a revolution in the way the world works. Just move the GOP to the right.

Know your enemy and know yourself and in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. The tea parties enemy is not the Democrats, but the RINO. We know our enemy. We are wiling to acknowledge the limits of reality. The tea party doesn't envision taking over New York or LA. So we make plans that don't require such measures. The occupy "whatever" groups are dispersing their effort in places like Davenport Iowa. They are putting 250 people in 50 cities rather than 15,000 people in one place. The tea party puts a million on the mall for a few hours then disperses to save our energy. They fight dirty, we fight smart. Short term they can win a few days of positive coverage. But just like the 1968 and 1972 elections the radicals and protesters can't win the big fight.

Wrong. How something will "affect" you is an example of the "effect" it will have. In all instances where they use the word, they use it absolutely correctly.
