Ann Coulter Analyzes Perry's Romneycare Attack Ad (Video and Transcript)
Fox News ^ | October 11, 2011

Posted on 10/11/2011 11:57:46 AM PDT by hocndoc

ANN COULTER, AUTHOR: It's a good ad. It's probably Romney's biggest problem, and that was a very strong ad, though I must say there are differences between doing it just in a state and doing it nationally. You can leave a state. You can't leave the country, or at least not quite as easy.

And the other thing is, I mean, the country has spoken. They do not want national health care. Romney himself has said, whatever he says about -- about what he did in Massachusetts, he says his first day in office, he will issue 50 state waivers to Obamacare, every state. We don't have to worry about him making that mistake again.

What it reminds Republicans -- but I think we all knew this -- is that he's not a pure free-marketeer. The Heritage Foundation, by the way, signed off on Romneycare and also in a small defense of Romneycare, though it is not a free market solution. A governor is limited in the solutions he can come up with because of federal laws requiring that hospitals treat anyone who comes to their door, including strings of illegal immigrants with sniffles or who think they're getting a cold. That was the problem Romney was dealing with as a governor.

The problem generally with Obamacare and Romneycare is that they are responding to problems that were created by government intervention in the first place.

INGRAHAM: Right.

COULTER: Yet, at least in the case of Romneycare, he was responding to government problems created by the federal government and not the state government. So it is more defensible.

Coulter is a known shilll for east coast RINOs.

A governor is limited in the solutions he can come up with because of federal laws requiring that hospitals treat anyone who comes to their door, including strings of illegal immigrants with sniffles or who think they're getting a cold. That was the problem Romney was dealing with as a governor.

All 50 states are under the same federal mandates as Mass. Why did no other state come up with government health care?

And if Romney was trapped by that reality and by a veto-proof Dem legislative majority, why does he to this day praise Romneycare, despite its documented problems?

“Why is the leading Tea Party candidate so ok with Romney?????????????????????”

A very good question. The reasons might be emotional rather than rational.

Perry has already shown he thinks he has the power to order what he determines is health care. What is the difference in a mandate and an executive order.

Coulter is inconsistent in that she attacks Perry while giving Romney a pass on states issues. I will not vote for Romeny. However, I would rather not vote for Perry unless I do not have a choice.

Romney is Obama’s pick because he takes socialized healthcare off the debate table. Romney can pretend his actions as governor don’t equate to Obama’s actions as president, but it is all the same garbage, and that argument won’t fly in the general election.

July 18, 2011: Gov. Rick Perry signs health care reform bill into law; Texas fourth state to pass health care compacts bill

"With the signature of Gov. Rick Perry today, Texas has joined three other states stating their intention to enter into a health care compact.

The compact, which would challenge the authority of the federal government to dictate the terms of the federally and state funded Medicaid program, was part of a wide-ranging health care reform bill, Senate Bill 7, passed by the Texas Legislature in its recently concluded special session.

Georgia, Oklahoma and Missouri have already signed onto the compacts movement, with Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon signing a bill into law on Thursday.

The law establishes Texas, along with the other three states, as pioneers in an uncharted use of Article 1, Section 10 of the Constitution which allows states to enter into agreements that, with the approval of Congress, cannot be abridged by the federal government. There are more than 200 state compacts currently in effect, nearly all of them related to commerce.”…..

MEANWHILE MITT ROMNEY is pushing these health care exchanges

July 16, 2011: Romney Adviser Backs Obama Health Exchanges

SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt, a top supporter and adviser of Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney, strenuously backed the core piece of President Barack Obama’s health-care law and urged the states to move forward together in adopting health insurance exchanges.

Speaking to a bipartisan group of governors at the National Governors Association, the former Republican governor who served as secretary of health and human services in the Bush administration, called the exchanges where individuals and small businesses can purchase health plans “a very practical solution to a problem that needs to be solved.” He warned governors who are reluctant to move forward with their state-level exchanges that their intransigence will only empower federal regulators.

And he said the health care law that passed is a compromise that gives the states the flexibility they need.

“This is a profoundly important time for the states,” said Mr. Leavitt. “States need to lead.”

The comments came at a time when every major Republican presidential candidate has pledged to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the president’s health care law. For former Massachusetts Gov. Romney, the issue is extra sensitive: the health care plan he secured for Massachusetts included an exchange almost identical to the federal law. He has tried to tightrope through the issue, blasting the federal law as he defends his own.

The federal law gives the states until January 2014 to set up their own exchanges, with federal oversight. If they fail to do so, their citizens will get access to a federal exchange.

But some Republican governors have been reluctant. They oppose the federal law and say they hope it will be repealed by a Republican president in 2013.

“he (romney) says his first day in office, he will issue 50 state waivers to Obamacare, every state. We don’t have to worry about him making that mistake again.”

So what, that leaves the IPAB board intact, the HHS bureaucracy intact, and these waivers are not provided for in the obamacare law. The Leftists wil seek a court challenge to any blanket waiver. obamacare must be absolutely repealed; it is a cancer that will spread unless excised.

“because Mormons are always lovely people.”

Right Ann, like harry reid.

Why is the leading Tea Party candidate so ok with Romney?????????????????????

____________________________________________________________

I don't know and for the life of me can't figure it out.

I think Mr Romney could be an OK president, certainly better than Bush in some ways. He is not pro choice, he is not anti-2nd amendment. Would it help to give 50 waivers. Yes. With the waviers given then the destruction of the insurance industry wouldn't happen while we were waiting for congress to get rid of Obamacare. With the waivers we have time to get rig of it without the argument that it is already implemented and now we can't go backwards or we will take away peoples insurance. The 50 waivers is a must for whomever wins.

I have my doubts that a Mormon can win. People in this country are fairly open minded and easy going but the press will have the strangest accusations about Mormonism on the air and on the front pages every day in an attempt to help the One.

If Cain isn't the nominee I will be sick. If Perry is the nominee I will fear that we will have the Mexicans with us forever. If Romney is the nominee I will look forward to four more years of the one, or the Zero.

Stupid ad. Perry has already shown he approves of the use of government mandates in health care. If he tries to argue in degrees he will come off looking like a flaming hypocrite. He ceded the high ground on this issue a long time ago.

That's the stupidest post I've read all day!

Mitt Romney: Gun Control
We do have tough gun control laws in Mass.
I support them and will not chip away at them.

Mitt Romney: Abortion
I believe abortion should be safe and legal in this country.
I will preserve and protect a woman's right to choose.
I am not going to change our pro-choice laws in Mass. in anyway.
