Just got an email from Famous that is essentially reproduced at the link.
Basically they say the FDA is looking to get into the business of "regulating" cigars and legislation is needed to prevent this.
I followed their link to a CRA (Cigar Rights of America) site which allows one to craft messages to be sent to your Senators and Congressman. I just did this. If you agree with me that the FDA shouldn't be regulating cigars I urge you to do the same.
It never ends.....
You still around FR?
If they make cigars illegal, they will only raise the price and the demand...and probably lower the quality.
Government is evil (it kills competition)...the less of it we tolerate, the better.
I will grow tobacco and roll my own cigars. Effin regulators just can’t get enough into other peoples business. It has taken me years to be judicious about drinking and smoking, I would hate to throw away all that hard work and quit because of the effin nanny stater fascists.
I’ve already contacted my Senators on this matter, at Famous’ urging. Pat Toomey’s response was something along the lines of ‘since this legislation is pro-small business, he would look favorably on it’, and Senator Casey’s response was, ‘I’m not supporting it”. No surprise there.
This is all based on a law passed by Congress which gave the FDA the power to regulate cigarettes. Of course, the fools gave the FDA so much power, they can also now regulate cigars, even though the two are different products. What gives the government the right to tell me if I can smoke cigars on my own property?
Well, the rats gave them the right to take over healthcare - so now the next step is take over our bodies - there is only so much ‘care’ to go around. Mitt will concur.
I just checked the Cigars International and JR Cigars sites and neither of them mention this. One would think that all sites would be pushing this?
