Issa Issues Subpoena to Holder in Fast and Furious Investigation (BREAKING)
fox ^ | 10/12/2011 | fn

Posted on 10/12/2011 7:49:05 AM PDT by milwguy

Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sent a subpoena Wednesday to Attorney General Eric Holder as part of his investigation into the gun trafficking operation known as "Fast and Furious." "Top Justice Department officials, including Attorney General Holder, know more about Operation Fast and Furious than they have publicly acknowledged," the California Republican said in a statement. "The documents this subpoena demands will provide answers to questions that Justice officials have tried to avoid since this investigation began eight months ago. It's time we know the whole truth." The subpoena seeks, among other things, all communications regarding the operation from 16 top Justice officials, including Holder, his chief of staff, Gary Grindler, and the head of the department's criminal division, Lanny Breuer, as well as correspondence on specific dates to and from the former head of the ATF's Phoenix field division, William Newell. It also asks for all documents and communications referring or relating to the murder of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata, including any correspondence outlining the details of Zapata's mission at the time he was murdered. Congressional investigators are demanding information regarding the investigation into the death of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

It has finally hit the fan. After Holder's presser yesterday when he said he was focused on 'important' things like the wag the dog Iranian terror threat, I bet we do not see him front of a camera again for months. Look for Obama to continue to express confidence in Holder and try and claim executive privilege in some of the docs ISSA wants to see.

“try and claim executive privilege in some of the docs ISSA wants to see”

Which will then go to the SCOTUS who should decide (if Watergate precedent counts) that Dumb0 must turn over the docs.

See “watergate tapes” to see what happened last time a President tried to go that route.

Issa Issues Subpoena to Holder in Fast and Furious Investigation
October 12, 2011

Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sent a subpoena Wednesday to Attorney General Eric Holder as part of his investigation into the gun trafficking operation known as "Fast and Furious."

"Top Justice Department officials, including Attorney General Holder, know more about Operation Fast and Furious than they have publicly acknowledged," the California Republican said in a statement. "The documents this subpoena demands will provide answers to questions that Justice officials have tried to avoid since this investigation began eight months ago. It's time we know the whole truth."

The subpoena seeks, among other things, all communications regarding the operation from 16 top Justice officials, including Holder, his chief of staff, Gary Grindler, and the head of the department's criminal division, Lanny Breuer, as well as correspondence on specific dates to and from the former head of the ATF's Phoenix field division, William Newell.

Two guns found at Terry's crime scene were linked to the failed operation that allowed more than 2,000 weapons to "walk."

The subpoena also asks for correspondence that Justice Department officials had with the White House about the gun trafficking operation, as well as what information was shared by Justice officials in Mexico.

This second subpoena follows the first one issued in March to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Asked about the development Tuesday, Holder said his department "will undoubtedly comply with them," noting that Justice officials have already sent "thousands of pages of documents up to the Hill."

Holder addressed the matter at the end of a press conference about an alleged Iran-tied terror plot foiled by U.S. investigators. "What I want the American people to understand is that in complying with those subpoenas and dealing with that inquiry, that will not detract us from the important business that we have here to do at the Justice Department, including matters like the one that we have announced today," Holder said.

The new subpoena follows a week of back and forth between congressional investigators and Justice Department officials of "who knew what, when." Under scrutiny was Holder's testimony from May 3 when he told Issa that he "probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks."

Fox News obtained documents addressed to Holder as early as nine months before that, which described the concept of Operation Fast and Furious.

In addition to the congressional investigation being led by Issa and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, is calling for a special counsel to look into the matter.

All Eric Holder did was lie to the Congress as to what he knew of Zer0's stratagem to illegally sell automatic weapons to Mexican drug smugglers in order to demonize American firearms dealers and gun owners.

Holder doesn't stray far from Berry, either in his actions or in his world-view.

Considering the level of stupidity on display he might want to consider an insanity defense.

DIRECT TRANSLATION

What I want the American people to believe is that Issa's subpoenas and his inquiry are not considered important business by the Justice Department, but what we have announced today to distract them is.

I don't think they are thinking much in those terms. They're building their case, slowly, deliberately, and damningly. If it stretches into the election season, that's going to be solely the fault of the Administration in stalling and obstructing.

In other words, win-win.

Fox News obtained documents addressed to Holder as early as nine months before that, which described the concept of Fast and Furious.

We are just beginning to see some of the things that our Congress, country, and probably court systems will be focused on for the next few months!

I noticed that immediately. It is quite likely ISSA has someone else feeding him info that Holder and Justice are unaware of.

When Zapata was gunned down in Mexico, I am sure a lot of his fellow agents felt totally betrayed. DOJ had not informed the Mexican gov’t or our agents there about F&F. I am quite certain there is a paper trail regarding the attack on Zapata that leads very high up into DOJ and probably the WH. Stay tuned.

Victor Bout —that’s the Russian arms dealer on whom the Nicolas Cage movie, “The Lord of War” was based: he’s on trial now in the USA for his various crimes.

Know what he did?

He was dealing arms to drug-dealer gangs in Latin America.

He didn’t need tax revenue to do it, either. And he also wasn’t deliberately undermining anyone’s Constitution.

THINK ABOUT THE IRONY.

LOL Holder holding their press love fest yesterday thinking it will take the heat away but ignores how Holder had this guy locked up since last month so why now release the info?

Holder should have been forced out after he dropped charges against the black racist panthers and then it came to light there is a policy in the DOJ to be racist towards white, normal straight men while ignoring states which ignore immigration law, ignore racism from hispanic, Asians and blacks.

All of those in the DOJ who were put there after 2008 should be all forced out .

I hear scuttlebutt, but this is what is public so far.
EX CIA and other intel guys are publicly denouncing this iran thing. They say it is way too sloppy to be an iranian op. Bob Baer says if quds wanted you dead you’d be dead already.
NO ONE who IS anyone beleves his crap. And the gop idiots that are calling for retaliation on iran better get a brain or two between them.
Waiting to hear publicly from Mike Scheuer. Even though I think he is a little..odd...he usually is right on when it comes to stuff like this.

Remember, this is the SAME crew who high-fived when they issued the false report that iran had given up its nucler ambitions and sabataged GWB’s admin.
