Former Gov. Joe Kernan says a signature on a petition to place Barack Obama's name on Indiana's 2008 primary ballot isn't his, putting him among dozens of dubious signatures found in a newspaper's investigation.
Kernan, a Democrat who campaigned for Hillary Clinton during the 2008 primary, told the South Bend Tribune that he didn't sign the Obama document.
"No, not at all," the former South Bend mayor said when asked whether the signature next to his name on the Obama petition looked like his own. "Nor does the printing look like mine."
The Tribune reported Wednesday that it has talked with more than 40 people who say they didn't sign ballot petitions submitted in St. Joseph County for Obama or Clinton, despite their names appearing on the documents.
State Republican Party Chairman Eric Holcomb has called for a federal investigation into the matter.

Why now? where was this in, oh, I don’t know: maybe 2008?
“Someone has been sitting on this, waiting for the right time. This could have been done when the papers were filed, for instance.”
Some disillusioned former worshipper, perhaps?
Well, isn’t that interesting?

I learned today in CA, if you want to turn in bottles and cans for a voucher, you must present ID to the store with the voucher. So the poor who collect or return cans and bottles for cash have to show ID but voters in CA do not.
I don’t doubt the claims in the least. What I do question is why the heck the Dems waited so long to bring this up? Obviously breaking the news about this NOW instead of back in 2008 before the election must give them some advantage - most likely in stopping Obama’s re-election campaign.
The thing that REALLY bothers me is that these people would hold onto something like this until they thought they could get the most political traction out of it, instead of coming forward when it would benefit the state and nation as a whole.
Their timing indicates to me that they really aren’t that concerned about these types of fraud - until it can be used to their benefit. Not very admirable in my opinion. It will be interesting to hear what IN Dems have to say about their leaders who didn’t come forward with this for 3 years!
Well well well.
If this guy was the gatekeeper how then could have he allowed Obama to have gotten on the ballot and now claim that it wasn’t his signature.
Something’s rotten in Denmark...
Reminds me of recent Insider interviews. The Dems have realized that Steaming (0h0m0) is toxic and they don’t want to be leg shackled to him.
