SHOCK POLL: Herman Cain Leads GOP Nationally! (PPP Poll has Romney trailing by 8 points)
Business Insider ^ | 10/12/2011 | Zeke Miller

Businessman Herman Cain has risen to the top of a national poll of Republican primary voters, upending the GOP field yet again this cycle.

Cain has the support of 30 percent of Republicans in the Public Policy Polling survey, trailed by Mitt Romney at 22 percent, Newt Gingrich at 15 percent, and Rick Perry at 14 percent. Cain is also the second choice of 24 percent of those polled — the highest of any candidate.

In a two-person race, Romney would lead Perry 48-38, Cain would lead Romney 48-36, and Cain would destroy Perry 55-27.

The poll was conducted before last night's Washington Post-Bloomberg debate, in which Cain alienated some members of the tea party (his largest constituency) by saying he admired Alan Greenspan's leadership of the Federal Reserve.

PPP has a checkered history with polling — and this poll has a VERY large 4.5 percent margin of error — so don't read too much into this just yet.

People like him. He’s tough and succinct and has a great sense of humor.

Mainstream Media: “But, but, but Chris Christie endorsed ROMNEY! What is wrong with these stupid Republicans? Don’t they know our candidate when they see him?”

But but I thought Cain had no chance! He was running to be Romney’s VP! All the Perrywinkle fangirls told me so! How can this be?! You know, even though in a two way race Cain beats Romney, but Romney CRUSHES Perry.

What I read into this is that things are changing. Can Cain win? Most likely since many people view Romney as a career politician. Cain’s views are interesting and new but, we the people, must get behind whoever wins this thing 100% and change Congress or it won’t mean anything. We must take the Senate back and do it with the right people. Also, the leader of the Senate and the House need to be people that have the best interest of the country at heart and have the guts to stand up for the country.

Well well well. Can’t say this is a surprise. He’s had a ton of momentum.

LOL! There is only one thing left to do: The Perry fangirls need to talk their guy out of the race and quit siphoning votes from Herman Cain.

The powers that be continue to underestimate the Tea Party.

As predicted by many here, Newt is bubbling into the top tier.

RC2, I think if Mitt or Perry has Cain on their ticket as a VP, that should be good enough to beat Obama in Nov 2012. But if Cain ended up being the Republican presidential nominee, then he’d need to have Newt as the VP on his ticket. That would be a sure win also.

Agreed, but I think that would be too classy. They hate Herman Cain for possibly taking away the nomination Ricardo was “entitled to”.

Why would he have any need for Newt?

Romney is so tone deaf.

The reason for Christie’s popularity was Christie himself - not his liberal policies. It was refreshing to see a large man, with a self-deprecating sense of humor - smash mouth New Jersey whiners.

Repeating myself: When Romney played kissy-face with Christie - he failed to realize that an endorsement is not a personality transplant.

Christy can put his endorsement on the beach. Maybe a tropical storm will come by and kill it.

If Romney is elected with Cain as VP and people feel that Romney really screws up, how will this effect Cain in the next election? I wonder if it’s really worth taking the chance.

Folks,

A Cain/Newt ticket is not possible for the simple reason that they’re both GEORGIANS.

The 12th Amendment makes this impossible unless either one of them changes official residency.

Dick Chaney was living in Texas and had to change his official residency back to Wyoming precisely for this reason.
