Perry Says Iran Plot Requires Border Security

INDIANAPOLIS -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry says an Iranian-backed terror plot coordinated in Mexico proves the U.S. must secure its southern border.

The Republican presidential hopeful used Tuesday's announcement that Iranian forces had sought to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the U.S. to call for more border troops, improved fencing along the Mexican border and increased border patrols including the use of predator drone surveillance.

Perry opened his speech to Republican activists in Indianapolis on Wednesday with a call for increased border security. He called allegations that Iranian forces sought to kill the Saudi diplomat "business as usual" for Iran.

Immigration is a federal responsibility as you well know. The bill (I remember it being put up) could not get out of committee, so it was a lot more than Perry would not pass it.

Nope, never heard any such thing. I suggest you print your sources with a direct link or it didn’t happen. Perry has teams on the border and has for years. He does support a border fence in urban areas and wants boots on the ground and aviation support in rural areas. Obama has refused everything. You are merely a smear merchant.

Still smearing I see. The instate tuition was passed with a veto proof approval and only 4 NO votes. This has been stated numerous times by Governor Perry and by his supporters. I am from TX and know the situation there. You aren’t apparently and would prefer to engage in smears.

A fence will work in urban areas (he said it would), but it will not work in rural areas. There are 1200 miles to cover. He asked for aviation, drones and boots on the ground, all refused by Obama. You are either a Cain, Bachmann, Paul or Romney supporter. So if you are going to insult people man up and say who you support.

Feds can deport illegals, Texas Governor and police can not as you well know. Illegals are found in every state in the US, not just TX. If you don’t like TX, I am sure you can always leave.

This was a TX issue and passed with a veto proof majority by the Legislature. Doesn’t apply to other states. However, about 13 states have the same deal, but TX just offers tuition, no loans, grants etc.

This is one of the best ideas I have heard. If a Republican is elected, he just might go for it.

Immigration is a federal responsibility. The so called Arizona law did NOT make it out of committee, so there was NO bill to vote on. Perry has asked obama for aviation, drones, and boots on the ground and Obama refused. TX catches illegals and Obama releases them and will not deport them. Perry has had teams on the border for several years. What do you suggest he do. You seem very uninformed about what can be done legally. I am from TX and keep up with laws and everything going on.

Blame Obama, this is his responsibility.

I have no problem doing that, however this invasion, the crimes, this degree of violence, and absolute lawlessness have been out of control for 25+years and have only escalated. This is no secret.

A fence seems to work just fine in Israel, if America cannot build a border fence we deserve to fall ...

In the debate I saw, Perry wasnt given much of a chance to speak in the first place.

He did okay, especially in his response to the Reagan quote and the Bachmann questions ... but when they are feeding all the questions to Mitt, its easy to see ‘the agenda’ our there.

The establishment wants Mitt, and has now declared ‘open season’ on Cain and his 9-9-9 plan.

Come on now, are you suggesting everyone that thinks Perry is soft on illegals should just move to Alaska? ...maybe Arizona or Alabama?

Hey, I said I like Perry, but I'm not giving him a pass on this soft stance on illegal immigrants.
