Cain Turns Up New Race Card For Democrats
IBD Editorials ^ | October 12, 2011 | LARRY ELDER

What to do about Herman Cain? This question goes not to the Republican Party, where establishment candidates such as Mitt Romney privately dismiss Cain as lacking the experience, gravitas and resources to beat President Obama and then to soundly govern the country.

Herman Cain is not going to be the GOP nominee. Without a serious star-power staff, a ground game, chits to be called in by the candidate or the candidate's influential network of friends of influence, the fat cats sit on their checkbooks until and unless they believe their horse can win.

A serious presidential candidate is not one who, like Cain, breaks from campaigning for a book tour timed to coincide with his unlikely quest for the White House.

No, Cain is a clear and present danger to the Democratic Party — and its invaluable, near-monolithic black vote. Cain says things such as:

"African-Americans have been brainwashed" into voting for the Democratic Party.

"If you (Wall Street protestors) don't have a job or you're not rich, blame yourself."

"People sometimes hold themselves back because they want to use racism as an excuse for them not being able to achieve what they want to achieve."

"I don't believe racism in this country today holds anybody back in a big way."

How do some influential, left-wing blacks react? Not well:

Cornell West, professor of black studies at Princeton: Cain needs to "get off the symbolic crack pipe."

Harry Belafonte, entertainer, civil rights activist: "He's a bad apple, and people should look at his whole card. He's not what he says he is."

Tavis Smiley, PBS host and NPR broadcaster, writes off Cain's comments as "ridiculous or crazy."

Money is important, but it’s not every thing ask meg whitman or steve forbes.

Cain can win, and the recent polls prove it.

The fear of Cain is palpable.

I believe one recent poll showed Cain garnering approx 25% of the black vote. It’s my theory that a further chunk will simply stay home - they will be conflicted....can’t vote for a Republican, but can’t vote against a black man.

We can prove them wrong. This negativity sounds a lot like the talk directed at the early Tea Party movement.

I really hope Cain will do it. I’m tired of people telling me who can win and who can’t. Cain all the way.

Yes, typical of the commie hateful blacks on the left. Clarence Thomas was rimmed by the lefties especially in the approval process for Justice. Thomas finally stopped it when he smartly said...this feels like a lynching...it crushed the senators on the left!!!

Yeah. Remember how they convinced us that McCain would win.
how did that work out for us.
They ate him alive after the nomination.
the sign of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

Well, maybe the will of the people and their votes can decide the nominee for once instead of fat cats sitting on their checkbooks.

We have got to send money to the Cain campaign, otherwise our voices won’t be heard and we’ll wind up with the RINO candidate that the media and the establishment is pushing

Nobody could have beaten obama the first time. It just wasn’t going to happen. This time it’s different. I want a say in who our candidate is. I want Cain but I’ll support our nominee no matter who they are. The country is ready for a non politician.
