Watching white MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell chastising black presidential candidate Herman Cain for not participating in the 1960s civil rights movement infuriated me. O'Donnell accused Cain of sitting on the sidelines like a coward while blacks and whites marched and protested for black civil rights. How dare this white guy who does not have a clue what it was like to be black in America in the 1960s attack a black person for not responding to racism the way he thinks he should have responded?

In the '60s, most blacks did not march or protest in the streets, but they fought for freedom in their own private ways; entrepreneurship, prayer, striving for excellence, etc. A black buddy of mine who went from being incarcerated as a teenager to becoming an art director in a prominent advertising agency attributes his success to a black high school art teacher, Lindy Jordan. Mr. Jordan mentored so many black youths that a scholarship was founded in his honor. Mr. Jordan was never seen in the streets protesting for civil rights. I submit that Mr. Jordan fought for black liberation and equality in the best way he knew how: by mentoring black youths.

By 1964 all the major legislative initiatives were all over, and by 1962, when Cain was 17 years old, there were still some things going on but not such that anyone Cain's age then would be noticed ~ or probably allowed to be a participant by his elders.

Since I don't know if his degree at Purdue took 1, 2 or 3 years, he could well have been a student in Indiana.

As we all recall when Martin Luther King was shot Indiana was one of the few places where there were no black riots ~ just a different environment.

So, a white leftwingtard thinks he knows more about Cain's life than Cain does?

For me he's a near contemporary. Actually, an incredibly near contemporary and he most likely had a few bucks in his pockets at times and he could have taken a bus to Indianapolis for a civil rights demonstration or he could have paid for lunch for a few days. Students outside the major urban areas really weren't part of things in those days.

Many times you hear the liberals try to equate being gay, to being black. They've yet to understand that being gay is a choice, or lifestyle; being black is not.

Now, a white liberal is trying to tell Herman Cain that he is not black because he chose to not march in civil rights...as if "behavior", and not race, makes a person black.

There were millions of blacks in the USA during civil rights day, but nowhere near all of them marched for civil rights. If all of them had marched, then MLK and other self-proclaimed black "leaders" would have blended into the crowd and not been "heroes".

If any black in America is totally NOT authentically black, it's barack obama. Born in Kenya, raised in indonesia by communists and socialists, and is half-white.

Yet, never a peep about all that from the media.
