Scott Brown: Traitors can’t be citizens
Boston Herald ^ | 10/13/11 | Hillary Chabot

Posted on 10/13/2011 11:19:26 AM PDT by DFG

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is co-sponsoring a bill that would strip terrorists of their American citizenship if they are found guilty of conspiring against America after two accused homegrown terrorists were arrested in the Bay State.

Rezwan Ferdaus of Ashland was arrested last month and charged in a complex plot to attack Washington, D.C., and Tarek Mehanna of Sudbury is set to go on trial this fall on charges he provided “material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization,” and acted as a “media wing” for al-Qaeda.

As of right now, they don’t have to declare anything before using a Hellfire missile on an American citizen.

I’d rather have the Courts decide (where the American people can have their say) instead of the King President and his Star Chamber.

If they are guilty of conspiring against America, they should be hanged as traitors.

As far as citizenship goes, it has been proven that traitors can be obtain it by posting a .pdf file on the internet. Oh yes, and by screaming “racism” whenever anyone asks to see it.

Conspiring? Hmmm, covers a lot of territory seems to me. This is what thousands think about 0 and cult.

Well it wouldn’t be hard to accuse citizens of this. They’ve already accused TPers of being terrorists just for protesting high taxes.

See what’s coming people? All they would have to do is catch the guy and convict in court, then kill hum. This seems like an unnecessary law. IMO

So, as soon as FreeRepublic is considered to be conspiring against the US hosting a thread about how to overturn ObamaCare we’re all terrorists? No, thanks.

Let’s make it double damn illegal. I Do believe that a law is already on the books that does this.

I don’t like this idea.
It gives government too much power.

This might be the first good thing Scott Brown has done since casting the deciding vote against the DREAM Act.

>>if they are found guilty of conspiring against America<<

That would be a step backward for this administration and some here on FR. They had Al Awlaki killed before he was even indicted. No “found guilty” involved.

"I can think of at least one from Arizona who thinks he is the congressman from Mexico."

In reality that is exactly what he is.

Won't fly: statutes don't trump the Constitution and the Constitution is the only thing that says who a citizen is. And it shouldn't fly: the downside is 'way more dangerous than the upside is good.

Besides, execution pretty much takes care of citizenship, anyway.

Sounds good. Will it retroactively apply to Sen. Kerry?

Even if they accuse everyone, they would have to be found guilty in a trial.
