Anita Perry: Husband Rick Perry "brutalized" by media, the GOP because of his faith
Dallas News ^ | 10/13/11 | Wayne Slater

Anita Perry, campaigning for husband Rick Perry in South Carolina, suggests he's been "brutalized" by the media and the GOP because of his faith. Perry is the most religiously expressive candidate in the Republican field. He hosted a seven-hour Christian prayer rally in August in advance of entering the presidential race. And at last week's Values Voters Summit, he was introduced by a Dallas Baptist pastor who said rival Mitt Romney is not a Christian and Mormonism is a cult.

Perry has suffered several extremely bad weeks, stumbling in the debates and losing the coveted endorsement of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who's backing Romney. Here, in emotional remarks at a South Carolina campaign stop, Anita Perry said:

"It's been a rough month. We have been brutalized and beaten up and chewed up in the press to where I need this today. We are being brutalized by our opponents, and our own party. So much of that is, I think, they look at him because of his faith. He is the only true conservative - well, there are some true conservatives. And they're there for good reasons. And they may feel like God called them too. But I truly feel like we are here for that purpose."

Here's the full 15-minute appearance -- a remarkable, emotional address threaded with religious references in which at one point (about 3 minutes in) she nearly breaks down, then (8 minutes in) makes the comments about the brutal campaign and later recalls someone who told Perry his political troubles were a divine test: "God is testing you because he wants you to know when you're in the White House, how you got there." It was a public show of emotion, not unlike Hillary Clinton breaking down in tears

Oh no... not the faith card!

I am convince that Perry would make a good neighbor and perhaps a good friend...... just not a president.

Govenor Mitt Romney has been being brutalized for his faith.

And yet he's still up there.

His religion is too close to other religions who take more then one wife and at young ages.IMO

Romney = 0 lite.

Romney = 0 healthcare lite.

Romney = just another one of the guys in the 'club' that don't listen to the people.

“Because of his faith...in illegal immigrants”

That and the fact that he can’t cobble together a coherent sentence half the time.

Jesus’ instruction on prayer in Matthew begins this way: “Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:5-6).

Perry held a big public showpiece of a prayer session, in direct violation of Jesus' instructions.

In similar manner, Perry made a showy public request for Federal assistance in closing the border, coinciding with announcement of his candidacy for POTUS. This man is a shameless poseur, a transparent fake. In fact, he has opposed the measures which other States have taken on their own in order to curb illegal immigration. He only wants to appear to oppose the invasion, while in fact his subsidies for criminal invaders at State universities encourage illegals.

Running for your party's nomination for president is a huge undertaking and not for the timid or the hyper-sensitive. Mrs. Perry simply had to look at the unprecedented vitriol spewed at Sarah Palin over the past three years to get an idea of what her husband would be facing. Perhaps Perrys popularity in Texas dulled their edges and when the governor hit the big time and stumbled in the debates and was strongly criticized by conservatives for his coddling of the children of illegal aliens while calling those who opposed his policy as 'heartless', Mr. and Mrs. Rick Perry were flummoxed.

By contrast, Herman Cain, a political 'outsider' has taken lots of verbal abuse from opponents and he gives it right back, with aplomb. Cain doesn't whine or pout, he pushes ahead, like a leader. Rick Perry seems diffident and while having some admirable qualities, does not present the picture of the kind of bold, tough leader this country will need to clean up the massive mess Obama has made. I'm beginning to strongly suspect that Rick Perry is the embodiment of the political version of the 'Peter Principle'. Perhaps Anita Perry should tell her husband to give up his campaign before their feelings are hurt beyond repair.

That’s why all the Perry supporters are now incensed, throwing tantrums, and bashing a great man like Herman Cain. They think La Raza Rick was “entitled” to the nomination.

I hope you’re right. He still has lots of die-hard supporters and if he does drop out, his endorsement will be very telling.

It took 3 debates of everyone piling on to take down Perry, I expect it will take 3 to take down Cain.

Sorry... many things to dislike about your husband... his faith... unless you are talking about liberalism... is not an issue.
