The most prominent Republican in the Obama administration is accusing GOP House members of blocking efforts to resolve the nation's problems, partly because they don't want the president to be successful.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was asked at a transportation conference Friday why it was so difficult to get big infrastructure projects built right now.

He responded that "some people don't want Obama to be successful."

How stimulating.. and rich.. such comments from a turn'coat. Sore, sour, smug, stupid, what else can you call someone like this? To call him a REpublican is a joke.

No mention of the regulatory nightmare to even build anything since GREEN seized control thru the courts when it comes to almost anything that one would build... nor the fact we are sorely in debt at the hands of his boss.

Ray LaHood is an idiot and has proven so ever since he stepped into the national spotlight during Clinton’s impeachment circus.

I would have to ask LaHood.....”When Democrats had the White House, the Senate and the House.....what did they do?” Nothing has a new meaning now doesn’t it?

The question was obviously a set-up and Ray LaHood gave his scripted, anti-Republican answer that ignores the reality that the ‘infrastructure’ that the ‘jobs bill’ is supposedly meant to help repair usually gets a pittance of the total while the rest goes to Democrat cronies and benefits mostly unions and Obama supporters. The usual Obama administration mendacity.

Obama is in desperation mode. Obama admin is trying the Truman angle and incoherent protests. This was telegraphed a couple of weeks ago. No one is buying it.

Remember when you were a child and you were’nt sure if your folks would buy you a pony.
Eventually you would get up the nerve to ask and your folks would say something like, “what are you stupid..DON’T YOU KNOW money grows on trees!?!”
Sheesh.

Like all pathetic libs, Ray attempts to accuse the opposition of exactly what he (and his friends) is guilty of [i.e. Do-Nothing Senate].

Ray LaHood, the guy that tried to ram through trillions of dollars for the “high-speed” train boondoggle versus a “do-nothing” Republican Congress.

I’ll take the do-nothing Congress any day of the week!

(By the way, Republicans only had control of the House since November 2010.)

This is it in a nutshell. LaHood was merely pimping for a fellow political crapweasel from (purportedly, anyway) Illinois, namely Barry the Boob. LaHood's remarks are not worth even considering, frankly.

Doing nothing is far better than doing something, when that something invariably costs us lots of money we don’t have, accomplishes nothing good, and provides yet another swollen trough for the beltway pigs to feast on.

Even better would be doing far less.

why it was so difficult to get big infrastructure projects built right now ?

what a crap question and answer
were any specific projects named ?

the last go around was to be shovel ready, which Obama now admits there were no shovel ready jobs.

how about this:
Dulles Airport had a runway improvement project funded by the American recovery reinvestment act federal stimulus. The project cost nearly $15 million and has created 17 jobs

The first go-round, at a minimum, taxpayers have spent $9.1 million on signs advertising the Obama administration’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

So Ray, the correct answer should have been:
"We haven't been able to figure out how to sneak funds for the signs past the "House".

I don’t think Obama can be successful with his ideology.

To hope for “Obama success” we have to embrace trillions of dollars of additional debt and massively higher taxes.

Count me as one who hopes he fails, Ray.

DOT seeks comments on environmental justice strategy
By CCJ Staff
Published October 14, 2011
The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking comments and suggestions on its updated environmental justice strategy to reduce the disproportionately high adverse human health and environmental effects of transportation programs, policies and activities on minority and low-income populations.

Under guidance from the Obama administration, DOT signed an interagency memorandum of understanding in August, inviting agencies to adopt or update their environmental justice strategies. Collectively, DOT and its agencies are in the process of updating guidance and strategy documents.

A key component of the strategy is promoting greater community participation in decision-making processes. From now until Dec. 31, DOT is inviting the public to provide insights, experiences and ideas for enhancing environmental justice in transportation-related activities by signing on to www.ej.ideascale.com.
